I meant to open this the day this aired, but was too tired, then I just failed to get around to it. Since the DVD came out today, I think it's appropriate to open it up.

I thought it was great, but I don't think it was made for TV and therefore this hurt the flashbacks. It would go into a flashback, then into a commerical, then come back into the same flashback before coming back to the "present". It came a bit exhausted when we see Adama's flashback in midscene. I believe the DVD version will play this differently where the scene will play uninterrupted with the Cylon War flashbacks (seen in the webisodes) played at the end before cutting to Adama looking at the Cylon Centurion in the Galactica museum. It seems to have a better flow to it. I assume this'll play better on DVD. I have my copy, but have yet to watch it.

That one problem aside, it was quite enjoyable. Even though I'm not a fan of the original series, it was still exciting to see the old school Cylons in action, as well as hearing those metallic voices. I liked the exploration into the Cylons' past and it opens up some possiblities for what will go down in Season 4. Especially with the hybrid's comment about Kara in mind. I don't think we've seen the last of the Guardians. I'm still interested in seeing how the Final Five fit into the Cylons' experiments since they seem tied to the Temple of Five (built to recognise five priests who worshipped "the one whose name cannot be spoken"), which evidently seems to predate the creation of the Cylons themselves. I'm thinking it has to do with the fact that "all of this has happened before and all of this will happen again."

I was also satisfied with how they integrated Kendra without making it look odd that we never see her before. Her story was a nice backdrop in which to put everything into context, from an almost naive novice to a hard-edged officer. It was also facinating to see first-hand what happened to Pegasus went through. The relationship Cain had with Gina was a nice twist that puts a new perspective on Cain's treatment of Gina and why she allowed Thorne to do what he did.

I thought the episode perfectly served the dual purpose of shedding light on a part of the past, and giving it a nice conclusion without leaving holes in its path, while also opening a link to the future. I just hope they'll be able to finish Season 4 and therefore the show.

I just watched the DVD, I loved it!
I also agree, felt nostalgic to hear those metal voices again as I still remember when i saw the original series a few years back when it was broadcasted over here in Finland and I am really excited to see how they end the series especially with the whole Kara thing, lets just hope the strike doesn't cause too much damage.

I liked it, great to see Cain again b/c she is just so well portrayed. And who would've thought she's a lesbian. I enjoy seeing the old cylons again, the CG just gives them a much more meaner look. Can't wait to see how Starbuck's storyline is going to unfold.
