Show Slang
Box:
A term used by the Cylons to describe the cold storage of a particular Cylon model's memories and consciousness, so that it will not download into any more bodies.

Bullet-head:
A term used to refer to Cylon Centurions.

Chrome job:
A term used to refer to Cylon Centurions.

Clanker:
A term used to refer to Cylon Centurions.

Cubit:
A form of currency, used in both the forms of paper and coins.

DRADIS:
A type of tracking, detection, and navigational system. DRADIS (which stands for Direction, RAnge, and DIStance) is analogous to radar.

Frak:
A word based on the similarly spelled (but identically pronounced) "frack" from the original series, both a clear substitute for the use of profanity.

However, whereas the use of the word in the 70s series is indicated to be relatively mild, frak (spelled as such to make it a literal four-letter word) carries more potent connotations and is used more in the same tone as the real word "fuck".

FTL:
The "FTL" part is an acronym, standing for "Faster Than Light". It is the term used for the space-folding technology the ships of the fleet employ in order to traverse vast distances of space, or "jump".

Godsdamn:
A polytheistic version of the expletive "goddamn".

Jump:
A type of travel performed by ships with the help of an FTL (Faster Than Light) drive. Jumping allows a ship with such a drive to get across a great distance of space in a short amount of time.

Nugget:
A Viper pilot trainee. The term originates from real world American military slang.

Skin job:
Term used by humans to describe the human-form Cylons.

Stims:
A type of medication used by pilots as a means of staying alert. Nothing is truly known of its components, but the name implies that it is a type of stimulant.

Toaster:
Term for the Cylons. Its use is often disparaging, the Cylons themselves taking the use of the word as a racist slur.

The use of the word comes from the reflective chrome appearance of older Cylon models (looking exactly like those from the original series), which were presumably replaced entirely by new models.

Tylium:
A material that is used as fuel for ships, by both the Colonial Fleet as well as the Cylons. Sources for tylium is not found on planets, but rather has to be mined from asteroids.

Tylium is also used in the original series (pronounced differently), but it is not mentioned in any detail.

Wireless:
A means of communication over a short to medium range distance. It is basically analogous to radio.
