Walkathon - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The students are in a school assembly, and Principal McVicker introduces Mr. Clark Cobb and his sock puppet, "Socko", who are there to talk to them about the Christian Businessmen's annual charity walkathon. Cobb isn't much of a puppeteer, and the only student who finds Socko the sock puppet amusing, is Stewart.

Out in front of the Maxi-Mart, Beavis gets a brain freeze from drinking his Freezy Whip too quickly. Daria approaches the boys and explains to them how when you enter a walkathon, you have to collect pledges, and that's how you earn money for charity. Daria asks the boys to pledge for her, asking them to pledge a quarter a mile. The boys, still not understanding the concept, up their pledge to ten dollars a mile. In return, Daria pledges a nickel for each mile the two of them walk. The boys think they've ripped her off since they're so bad at math.

On the day of the walkathon, everyone is gathered in front of Burger World. Clark Cobb and Socko start the event, and the walkers head off to earn money. Beavis and Butt-head start out at the back of the pack. They don't enjoy walking in the crowd, so they take an alternate route, which ends up taking them all day.

They arrive at the finish line, all sweaty and exhausted, and Clark Cobb tells them they need to pay up the $100 each that they pledged to Daria for the ten mile walk. He is furious when he realizes they aren't going to pay, and insists they walk off their debt at five cents a mile.

Cobb drives home behind the boys as they walk, making sure they don't quit. The boys decide that charity sucks.
