The eighth season begins with 14 houseguests entering the compound and learning that some of them are sharing space with an unwelcome visitor from their past. Also, one person is secretly designated to be “America's Player” and must attempt to accomplish whatever viewers vote for them to do each week.

The housemates compete for food -- the winners will have food for a week, the losers are forced to eat Big Brother Slop for a week. Alliances are formed and drama ensues as the housemates get to know each other.
