Big Love is a show about family, albeit an atypical one and explores the institution of marriage in today's society.
Bill is a polygamist businessman with three wives: Barbara, Nicki and Margene. He also is the father of seven children. They live in adjacent houses with a common backyard, so Bill is on a regular rotation with each. The only problem is that polygamy is illegal in Utah where they live and has been banned by Mormon Church.
Bill quickly discovers that his life is about to become more challenging when one of his fathers-in-law, Roman, who happens to head one of the most powerful polygamist communes where his parents live, wants Bill to give the commune more money after he decides to open a third home improvement store.
Bill faces the threat of going to jail as he scrambles to plan for his family's future and makes a last-ditch effort to save face in the senate. Meanwhile, Margene mulls a change of scenery.
Barb considers joining another church; Ben enlists an unlikely ally to connect with Heather; and Don delivers bad news about Home Plus to Bill.
