This show is nothing like what I was expecting going into it. From the previews and the hype I was anticipating an annoying wannabe family -drama revoloving around the religious and annoying sect of polygamist. But being an HBO series I had to tune it for the first episode atleast (I try to check everything out). But something very odd happend after watching the first episode - I wanted more. So I tuned into the next episode, and the next episode and before I knew it HBO had me hooked on yet another series.

While I originally started to get into the series because its fill (although in a completely different way) the void that SIX FEET UNDER left behind, the show has evolved into something different, but just as engaging. The idea of Polygamist household could have gotten tiring and/or annoying very fast, but somehow the writters are able to keep it fresh and engaging week after week. The stories-of-the-week and the season arc are treated with just the right amount of drama, realisim, and compassion that keeps one interested and the subplot's with the wives and the children is was initially will keep you coming back episode after episode.

While the first season basically set the stage for the series, it remains to be seen if the novility and uniqueness of the series will be able to continue through season two and on, or if this was a one-hit-wonder. But personally as long as the writers are able to keep the comedy and drama equaled, the acting steller, and the subplots flowing I'll be tuning in.

Keeping an open mind...Rating: 4 likes, 2 dislikes
This series is most certainly not something that you would ever expect it to be. The dynamic relationships of each character in the show and each individual storyline will keep viewers of any type interested and involved.

Whether you like situations of the old "Dallas" (Who shot J.R.?), the bouncing drama of 'Soap Operas' (The Young And The Restless, One Life To Live, General Hospital, Ryan's Hope, Days Of Our Lives, etc...), Action and Adventure, Comedy, or whatever else might get you involved, then this is the series for you to watch.

If you are a reader, then I'm sure you have been asked the question of what type of book you like to read. If you like mysteries, if you like drama, if you like love stories, deceipt, war, sex, intrigue, comedy, then there is one book that you can read that has it all; The Bible.

The Big Love series on HBO is the television equivilant to that statement. This series has it all. And it has it all in a new and "can't wait to get to the water cooler this week" way. If you aren't watching this series, then you must have heard someone talking about it. And if not, then you are associated with some very sheltered individuals.

Give this show a watch. Catch up a little with HBO on demand and see the relationships and storylines develop over the last 6 or 7 episodes. Once you start watching, you will set your Tivo's and your DVR's.

Plan to enjoy a new show in a new way and plan to start a discussion group with all of your freinds that also watch this show.
