Bill Henrickson, who is a Utah businessman and polygamist, is planning on opening another home-improvement mega store. At the same time, he is trying to tend to the needs of his three wives. He also receives news from his brother of his father's failing health. Not to mention that Roman, his second wife's father, has decided the time is perfect to confront him about a business deal.
Bill decides to contact a security expert about guarding Juniper Creek. Margene decides she wants freedom and she thinks the perfect way to get it is with a car. Roman tries to make Frank, who is still hospitalized, give a message to Bill. Sarah ends up telling about her family's secret life to one of her co-workers. Meanwhile, the Henrickson and Embry families decide the time is right to get together for a dinner.
Bill decides that he needs to get a home security system and has to tell teach the wives how to use it correctly. Nicki spends way too much money on her son's birthday party. Margene is extremely nervous about meeting her mother-in-law for the first time. Meanwhile, Roman decides to give the local press a look at his compound.
After Nicki gets in over her head in debt, she must go to her father, Roman, for help behind Bill's back. Bill finds out that Roman is using Joey to make money off unsuspecting people and is also suffering from weird dreams which he believes might be a sign of something to come. Barb gets a surprising offer while substituting at school. Margene is still trying to get her mother-in-law to like her. Meanwhile, Ben goes on his first deer hunting trip with Bill and Don and Sarah attends a college party where things get out of hand.
Margene is still feeling lonely and decides it's the perfect time to strike up a friendship with one of her neighbors. Nicki begins to wonder if Bill is considering adding to the family, and wonders about his and Barb's behavior lately. Bill and Don decide to go searching for information about Roman in the hopes of bringing him down. Ben tries to cope with the pressures of being a teenager.
Bill returns to Juniper Creek to attend his father's first wife's funeral and uses the opportunity to propose a deal to Roman. Barb decides to bail out Nicki after a situation at Home Plus. Meanwhile, Lois sees the opportunity for a promotion back at the compound.
Roman decides to evict all the Henricksons out of Juniper Creek and also removes Albie from Bill's case. Barb finally discovers Nicki's money troubles thanks to Peg. Margene decides to sneak of out the house to attend church with Pam and her husband, while Nicki continues to be taunted by Mormons who have finally discovered her secret. Jason goes on a wild trip with his seminary buddies and Sarah invites Heather over for dinner and she quickly wears out her welcome.
