The scene opens with Danny and Curatola escorting people to a van for a new program. A news broadcaster interviews Reverend Darnell Potter from a church in New York and he says that Frank isn’t practicing in White neighborhoods. Henry watches the report and says that he is dangerous. Jamie and Renzulli go up to a guy for speeding. However, they get a call of a man with a gun. They go into the church and push through two men who tell them that they are not getting into the church. Jamie and Renzulli tell them that they have a distress of a gun at the church and they need to get in. Two men come down stairs and push Jamie and Renzulli down the stairs. Renzulli is hurt and Jamie draws his gun on the men and calls for back up. Danny and Curatola hear the call and when they get there, they see a see of church members and officer fighting.

Danny goes up to Jamie and asks how he is and Jamie says that he is alright, but wonders if going into that situation was the best idea. Danny reassures him that what Jamie did was within their rights and what the men did was wrong. At Frank’s office, Baker gives Frank an update and says that Renzulli suffered a concussion and Jamie only suffered cuts and bruises. They see the news report and Garrett tells him that the Reverend Potter runs a church on the upper floor and that it is a sensitive area to begin with. Frank says that they are going to follow this through. Meanwhile, Erin runs into an old colleague and he says that she would love to jump shift. She finds out that he is representing the client that she is waiting for. Frank goes to the stand-off that is going on in the church. Potter comes up in his limo and goes strait to the media. He tells the reporters that there wouldn’t be such a fast response if it was in the White church and says that there will be no negotiations until there is change. Frank tells the officers to get ready to breach.
Jamie goes to the hospital and sees Renzulli. He says that he feels like he fell on his head and says that he is going to have to rest up for a few days. Renzulli asks if his watch is in the drawer and Jamie gives it to him. He says that his father gave him the watch and that it is very important to him. Renzulli says that his father would have said that Jamie is a good influence on him. Jamie says that Renzulli is a good influence on him too. Danny and Curatola talk to one of the men from the church and he says that there was no gunman and that no robbery. Danny and Curatola are beginning to believe that the officers were set up. Frank waits and the Mayor comes up and talks to Potter about what is going on. He goes over to Frank and asks what they are going to do. Frank tells him that they are going in and getting the men out to find the men who pushed his officers down the stairs. The Mayor warns against it and Frank says that if they don’t show an example, then it will be worse. They move in and Potter tells the crowd that this is not justice. After they get the men out, Jamie says that none of them are the two that pushed Renzulli and him down the stairs.
At the station, Danny and Curatola listen to the 911 call and find out that the call came from Washington Heights and not Harlem. Erin meets with her old colleague and talks to his client. She tells him that there are no deals and he realizes that he is not going to win. Danny and Curatola visit the area where the call was made and ask a dealer and asks who made the bogus 911 call. He says that a boy named Wendell. Frank gets into the Mayor’s office and he says that Frank is going to have to talk with Potter. Frank says that he doesn’t want to talk because Potter doesn’t. Potter comes in and quotes Malcolm X. Frank says that he didn’t know that he was at a Summit and says that he wants to address why Potter’s men pushed two police officers. Potter ignores the question and Frank exits the room with a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. Later, Potter starts a protest telling them that the Mayor will either remove Frank as Commissioner, or they will remove the Mayor. Frank tells Garrett that Potter is another person that they need to ignore. However, Garrett thinks otherwise.

Danny and Curatola have Wendell in custody and like the dealer said, Wendell is a little slow. He says that he doesn’t know why he made the call and says that he was taught to always report a crime. Danny mentions a dealer named Otto. He is Wendell’s Uncle. An officer says that the kid’s lawyer is there and says that Otto is there. However, Otto denies making any phone calls. Later, Danny, Curatola, Jamie and other police officers go to Potter’s church and Jamie finds a picture of the men who assaulted Jamie and Renzulli in a picture. Danny asks where they can find them. Mayor Poole comes into Frank’s office and asks what he is going to do next. The Mayor says that Potter is a lightning rod who pushes the cause through still today. Franks says that he checked with the Frauds Team and they told him about some things that Poole and Potter used to run together. Poole says that he heard rumors of Potter being a criminal so he cut ties. He realizes that he was played and Frank says that they all need a little push sometimes.
At dinner later, Danny’s kids ask Jamie what happened to him. Nikki says that he and his partner were pushed down some stairs. Danny says that the men were Black and the officers were White. He says that it doesn’t matter if they are White, Black, Blue or Purple because when they break the law, they are guilty. Henry says that they are all the same color on the inside. Afterward in the kitchen, Danny tells Erin that they know that Otto Jackson, a name Erin recognizes, made the phone call so that Potter could have something to rant about. Erin says that a lawyer who keeps flirting with her wants to offer Otto as a plea. Danny says that they can use him as leverage to talk to Potter and make him tell him about the call. Erin doesn’t like it, but sees the options that are good in this case. Renzulli is better and says that he will be out of the hospital soon. Danny tells Jamie that they have a location of the two men who knocked them down the stairs. Danny, Jamie and a team of officers go to the place and arrest the two men. Danny asks Jamie if they should do what they did to them and Jamie says that they are a kindler, gentler NYPD.

The next day, Erin talks to the old colleague and tells him that she is going to take his deal. He asks why the sudden change of heart. She says that they have an interest in one of the dealers and need to get him. He takes the deal and leaves. Later that evening, Danny tells Otto that he is wearing a wire and that he needs to stick to the script. He understands and goes into the restaurant to meet up with Potter. The next day, Potter gets into his limo swarmed with reporting about the fact that he set up the NYPD. He tells them that he has no comment. Garrett tells Frank that Potter is out of town because of the press. The Mayor has cut all ties to him and that everything is settled. He is impressed with Frank and suggests that he run for Mayor. However, Frank says that his place is where his is at now. The episode ends.
