Meanwhile, a police officer comes in and calls out for his Uncle Connie. He comes out and hugs him he tells him to come back later. Mike, the cop, tells him that he can fire up the grill himself. However, Connie tells him to go home. Two men come out and tell Mike to leave. The delivery man talks to his customer and hears an argument coming from the restaurant. Suddenly there is gunfire and Mike is seen leaving the scene of the crime. Meanwhile, Renzulli and Jamie are getting money out of the ATM and Jamie says that he isn’t as “flush” as he thought. Renzulli asks what is going on and Jamie says that it is his law loans. Jamie asks if Renzulli has a spot on his painting crew. He says that he does and says that he can come up for it.

Garret tells Frank that Mayor Poole wants a new recruiting campaign for the department and he has some information about the numbers. Garret says that most of the police in the Bronx are untrained. He tells Frank that Mayor Poole says that Kevin Schmitt is his guy that can help. Frank is unsure about it. Danny and Curatola arrive at the restaurant and an officer tells them that there was a cop involved, but he left the scene of the crime. They talk to the delivery man and he says that Constantine “Connie” Marcos, the owner of the restaurant, was doing business with him and he says that he went out and saw the cop walking fast away from the scene. They don’t understand why a cop would leave the scene and the delivery guy suggests that the cop was probably the shooter. They go into the restaurant and there are two gun holes in the wall and one victim of the shooting. Danny suggests that the “cop” wasn’t really a cop and that he was in to rob the restaurant.
They go to Connie’s apartment and two officers are there. They tell Danny and Curatola that there was a robbery in progress, but when they got there, it was empty. Danny and Curatola go into Connie’s apartment and find a note from the Auxiliary Police and realize that the shooter is possibly an Auxiliary Police officer. Curatola suspects that the Auxiliary officer and Connie are working together. Jamie is helping out Renzulli with painting and Renzulli says that he thought that Jamie has done this before when he has issues with the paint. He asks why he needs them money and Jamie says that his law loans are taking a lot of his money. Renzulli tells him that he has too much paint on his brush. Meanwhile, Frank meets with Kevin about the new campaign and tells him right off that he doesn’t want to hear anything or see anything about 9/11. He says that he isn’t going to use it as a platform. Danny and Curatola drive up to a NYPD Auxiliary car and they joke with Danny. However, when they tell that they are investigating a murder that an Auxiliary Police Officer might be involved in, they realize that they are talking about Mike Galatis. They go to his apartment and he tells them to come in. They find him sitting on the bed and the gun on the dresser. Danny looks around and Mike is a fan of the NYPD to the point of a little obsessive.
Later that evening, Frank sits down in the dark and Henry comes in asking what the matter is. He says that Mayor Poole wants him to focus the campaign on 9/11. He says that he doesn’t want to do that. Henry says that policing didn’t start with 2001. Frank asks why Henry joined and he says that it was part of the family. Henry says that he feels that Jamie doesn’t like the job because he has to paint houses as well just to make his school loan payments. At the station, Danny looks at Mike’s file and Curatola says that the dead man in the restaurant was Billy Jackson, a small time crook. Danny says that Mike applied for the real police when he became of age. However, he failed the character evaluation for having petty criminal charges when he was younger. He calls him unlucky until he finds out that Connie is his uncle and also a paper that incriminates him. They go in and he asks what is going on. Mike says that there were two people there, Billy and Joey. Danny gets told that his family is there. He goes out and meets his family. Sean asks if he is sweating a bad cop in the box. They laugh and tell him that he is playing too many games. Danny tells his other son that he has to get back to work.

Danny gets back in the room and Curatola tells Mike that they found the gun that matched a shipment of stolen guns. Mike says that Connie got the gun for protection and that it wasn’t stolen. They tell that Connie’s house was tossed and Danny asks where Connie would hide something. Mike says that he has a storage locker. They get there and find that there are guns inside the locker. Frank talks to Jamie about the job and he tells him that if he is a cop to fill the void of Joe, he says that he has come to grips with the murder. Jamie says that he took the job because he loves the action that they he gets out of it. He says that he never thought that he would get rich from being a cop. Mike tells Danny that Connie isn’t a gun runner, but Danny tells him that the evidence doesn’t lie. A detective comes up and shows Mike the picture of Joey Sava. Mike recognizes him as the second gunman. Mike tells Danny and Curatola where they could find Connie. Garret walks by Kevin and tells him that Frank will come around soon. However, he says that the Mayor and him are running the campaign with or without Frank’s say and that he can either help or let what is said to be said.
Mike, Curatola and Danny ride around and Mike points out places that Connie could be. Curatola gets word that Connie used his credit card. Danny goes up to Connie and tells him that he is getting brought in to the station. Mike sticks his head out and tells him about the guns and asks him to tell them about it. Connie tells him to keep his mouth shut. They take him to the station and immediately, Connie starts to throw Mike under the bus and tells Curatola that it was Mike’s idea and that the guns are Mike’s. Danny and Mike watch the entire ordeal and Danny tells him that he has a choice to make. Danny takes him outside and tells him that he has a second chance there. He tells on Connie and Connie says that he raised him and that he can’t do this to him. Mike tells him that the delivery man knows about the crate and that the weapons are his. Connie tells him that if he wanted help from a real cop, he would have called one. Connie has no choice and tells them where they can find Joey and his gang.

The team gets to the location and Danny goes in and sees Joey run out the back. He chases after him and tells him to stop. Joey runs out of ammo and realizes that he doesn’t have an escape. He looks over the ledge and asks Danny what he is going to do. Danny kicks him and punches him to the ground. Afterward, Mike is out and Danny tells him that he told the jury what Mike did and Danny tells him that the next time he is going to take the test, he has some connections. Later at dinner, Danny tells the family about Mike’s obsession and Danny says that he doesn’t know where he would be if he didn’t get in. Linda says that he would have been drinking beer. Henry would have sold women’s shoes and Frank would have still been in the Marines. They talk about Erin being a cocktail waitress. In the kitchen, Jamie tells Frank that he didn’t become a cop because of Joe. It was the work itself and the adventures that he got it. The next day, Frank tells Kevin about the loyalty of being in the NYPD. Kevin loves it and asks if he can put a camera on him. He says that there is no chance. The episode ends.
