The Body in the Bag - Recap

A man found a corpse in a shower, the flesh nearly eaten away by battering hot water and steam. It had been in the shower for three days, the length of time the owner had not been seen. The house belonged to one Paisley Johnson, a twenty three year old socialite in a posh part of town. The corpse was thought to be Paisley's and was taken to the FBI lab. Three agents including Booth and Bones were standing bent over the shower's drain waiting for Hodgins to work the plumber's snake outside the bathroom but the snake was not working properly. Hodgins worked hard on it and finally got the snake to work, but he bellowed out that the agents might want to stand clear of the effluvia that was bound to come shooting out under pressure. Somehow the agents didn't hear or disregarded his warning and were suddenly covered in stinking slime consisting of the long dark hair of the victim, bone fragments and what remained of the flesh.


The bones were measured and weighed and scanned for anomalies. Hodgins found fractures in the bones but the cause was not immediately available. And the measurements revealed that the victim had indeed been a female but did not seem to belong to a white woman, rather an asian female. So who did the skeleton belong to? The agents made inquiries and found that Paisley had been a Facebook addict and also a shopaholic. Further probings revealed that she had a good friend on Facebook named Nicole who went shopping with the young woman alot but in recent days had unfriended her on the social network. Investigation revealed that Nicole had been deeply offended by a purse that Paisley had bought for her turned out to be a knockoff and Nicole had been approached by the police about that purse. Nicole said that she was innocent and was let off. But the police were looking for the person who was selling the knockoffs. That turned out to be one Mama Lu, an old Chinese woman who sold the knockoffs from a certain Chinese restaurant down town. Agents Bones and Booth decided to approach her and pretend to want to buy one.


At Paisley's house, Hodgins was still working on the sink in her bathroom, down to his undershirt, when he was approached by his partner in love, Angela, who bore the remains of a sandwich. She offered it apologetically to him, saying that she had had a sandwich attack on the way down and had eaten most of it. He smiled wryly at her and sat down to eat it. Angela commented that the house was so nice, disregarding the death that had happened there, and wished that they might get something like it to raise their coming child in, that she wanted their own place, not that his house wasn't nice, but that it was so old. Hodgins agreed with her and said that he would start looking for another place soon.


At Booth's place, Hannah was happy because Booth had confided in her that Bones still felt something for the man. Hannah appreciated his confidence in her and when he told her that Bones wanted to tell Hannah too, she wasn't so happy about that. Hannah told Booth that Bones had been trying hard to make an appointment with her about something, but now that Hannah knew what it was about, that she would have to avoid Bones. Three times Hannah broke a date with Bones and finally had to come right out and tell her why. Bones didn't seem upset at all about it and said that they could still be friends despite Bones' feelings about Booth.


Paisley Johnson was found in a ritzy hotel downtown having overdosed on sleeping pills, but she was alright after her stomach was pumped. She was brought in for questioning by Booth and Bones. She revealed that she had been depressed about her boyfriend going away and was even more upset to hear about the body in her shower. She said it was most likely her young friend, Jenny Yang, because Jenny had had a key to Paisley's place. But how had she died there?
Jenny's fiancee was questioned but he said he had not killed her. Paisley said that there was a bearcam in the bedroom, that she had found it because her boyfriend said he'd put it there. The agents found it and watched the tape. It showed a man on the bed and Jenny on top. Measurements were taken of the man on the tape and it was not Jenny's fiancee. It was revealed that it had been a married cop who had been having an affair with young Jenny. Jenny had met him at Paisley's place and had sex with him, unknowingly being taped by the bear cam all the while. He had killed her in the shower by bludgeoning her with something heavy when she told him that she was going to rat on him to his superior officer about being on the take concerning the knockoffs and for having sex with Jenny. The policeman was questioned and arrested on the spot.


Paisley was shocked and dismayed by all this, but mostly by the rough treatment that her friend Jenny had suffered. Had Mama Lu had anything to do with Jenny's murder, Paisley wanted to know? She had not. Paisley felt that she could not live in the house any longer where her good friend had been slain. She had to sell it and get out of town. She began looking about for a potential buyer.


The next day, Hodgins surprised Angela with a small black velvet box. Angela wondered aloud what it might be as she tore off the little gold ribbon and opened the box. It contained a key and when Angela asked what it was to, Hodgins revealed that it was the door key to Paisley's house. He quickly reassured Angela that he would tear out the old shower and put in a new one, considering what had happened there. A very happy Angela hugged his neck and thanked him profusely.

That evening, Bones and Hannah sat in a posh bar enjoying drinks and chatting about men and life in general. Hannah broached the subject about Bones' feelings for Booth which was met with approval from Hannah. She agreed that it was best to be totally honest about one's feelings and ended with it might be good for Bones to move on. Bones agreed. The bar tender said that there was a man across the room who wanted to meet them: could he buy them drinks? It turned out that he wanted to get to know both of them that night. Bones and Hannah waved back at him and he approached. They discovered that he was into kinky things and blew him off, then proceeded to knock back several more drinks and sat there, laughing at the spurned man who turned on his heel and walked away.
