  Episode Summary
When Brennan is about to meet an online date for the first time at a local restaurant, she only barely escapes being the target of a shooting and she and Booth are trying to track down her attempted killer. Was it the man she met online? Or is it someone connected to one of the two bodies she's investigating – the victim of a mob hit and the victim of a serial killer? Brennan is not deterred and insists on continuing all the investigations, while Booth sticks close by her side - until he's the victim of a bomb explosion, rigged to Brennan's refrigerator.

With Booth hospitalized, Brennan gets protection from Agent Kenton of the FBI, but FBI protection is not enough and Booth must race to save Brennan's life.

  Episode Quotes
Temperance: Ask him to save the excrements for Hodgins.
Booth: Lucky Hodgins.

Booth: You're dating on-line?
Temperance: Well, it's a practical way of objectively examining a potential partner without all the game playing.
Angela: That comes later, if it works out.

Booth: ...but you don't even know who this guy is that you're meeting.
Temperance: I have trekked through Tibet avoiding the Chinese army. I think I can handle meeting someone for dinner.
Booth: Fine, ya know what? You have fun with Dick431 or whatever his handle is.

Temperance: Have you examined the dog's excrement?
Hodgins: I'm doing the fecal floatation now. I don't get to say that a lot.

Angela: There's no ring, single or gay?
Agent Jamie Kenton: Gay? Uh, why would you say gay?
Angela: Brokeback, baby, gotta ask.

Hodgins: Someone at the lab works fro the mob. I can see it. There's not much difference between a corrupt corporate government and organized crime.
Booth: You're right.
Hodgins: Excuse me?
Booth: The only way this could have unfolded is if someone on the inside was orchestrating things.
Hodgins: People never say I'm right. They only tell me I'm crazy. I love you, man.

(They hit a bump in Hodgins' Mini-Cooper and Booth groans.)
Hodgins: Maybe that nurse was right to be pissed that you were leaving. You don't seem good.
Booth: Ya know, if we weren't in a toy car.

Hodgins: This conspiracy thing is a lot more intense when you're in the middle of it.

(About murder suspect, Kevin Hollings.)
Agent Jamie Kenton: Ya know, he used to slit there throats like they were cattle. He told me he used the key to unlock the soul behind their eyes. That is on sick bastard the world ain't gonna miss.

  Cultural References
Angela: Brokeback, baby, gotta ask.

A reference to the 2005 Academy Award nominated film, Brokeback Mountain, about two cowboys in 1960s Wyoming that share an unorthodox love for each other.

Tom Joad: Wherever there's a fight, so hungry people can eat, I'll be there. Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there.

This is a partial quote from Henry Fonda's character, Tom Joad, in the 1940 film adaptation of the literary classic, The Grapes of Wrath. This is what was heard and watched by Booth and Temperance at the end of the episode as they sat together in Booth's hospital room.

  Episode References
This is the second time that Dr. Brennan has been targeted for assassination by a gang or mob. The first came in the episode "The Woman in the Garden", where she had a hit put out on her by Latino street gang. An attempt at her life was never made because Booth stopped it from ever happening.
