Bones: Mother and Child in the Bay
Booth and Brennan examine the remains of a woman and fetus found in the Delaware Bay. The body is identified as that of Carlie Richardson, a pregnant newlywed whose mysterious disappearance one year ago had been a major national news story. Carlie's husband Kyle Richardson is immediately thought to be the prime suspect in the case, but he disappears before Brennan and Booth can question him, prompting Booth to call for a manhunt for Kyle. Clues found with the remains throw suspicion in a different direction, and Brennan enlists Booth and her team at the Jeffersonian to recreate the potential scene of Carlie's murder to get a better idea of the build and body type of the murderer, with shocking results. Meanwhile, Booth is annoyed that his ex-girlfriend Rachel, the mother of his son Parker, is letting Parker spend so much time with her new boyfriend, forcing Booth to be more territorial than Rachel would like.
Rebecca threatens Booth that he will see his son, Parker, again if he doesn't back off from investigating Drew.
David Boreanaz and Jessica Capshaw also worked together in the 2001 film, Valentine.
Booth: I wanna know what kind of guy this new boyfriend is and, ya know what, if she's not gonna tell me, I'll find out on my own.
Temperance: You're gonna run a background check on him?
Booth: When you have kids, we'll talk.
Temperance: That's a lot to ask for a little conversation.
Cam: Let's just hand the prosecutor what she need so I can have a nice weekend knocking back shots and playing poker.
Temperance: Yeah,... that should motivate us.
Temperance: Committing yourself to one person isn't in the interest of the species. I mean, you have multiple partners.
Angela: Don't say it like that. I date.
Cam: Are you pregnant?
Temperance: No,... I'm not.
Booth: Why you looking at me?
Booth: You know, you don't have to act any geekier. The whole outfit does it for ya.
Hodgins: Geek chic, dude. Agent blondie over there thinks I'm hot.
Rebecca Stinson: I don't even have to let you see Parker, okay? Not, not, not legally. That's one of the upsides of not being married.
Booth: DON'T!... I'm a good father. You know that.
Temperance: Height and weight?
Angela: Oh God... uh... (Sighs.) 5 foot 8... 110 (Mumbles.)
Angela: 135.... It's all muscle.
Social Worker: Don't you want to hold him?
Kyle Richardson: I don't know.... Um.... The kind of guy I am, I'm no father.
Booth: You don't get to decide that.... You have a son. Step up. Take him.
Booth calls Rebecca's boyfriend, Stu. His name is Drew. This may be Booth calling him the wrong name out of ignorance or just him getting it wrong, but Rebecca doesn't correct Booth. This leaves the door open to it being a goof.
This is a "Ripped from the Headlines" episode that loosely resembles lives of Scott and Laci Peterson. Scott was convicted of murdering his wife, Laci (who was pregnant at the time), on Christmas Eve in 2002. The investigation and trial became extremely public and covered by many of the national media outlets.
Temperance: Abraham does not kill Isaac.
This is a reference to the story of the Bible in Genesis chapter 22 where God asks Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. Abraham prepares for the sacrifice going so far as to raise the knife to kill him when God stops him. It was a test of Abraham's conviction, to which God was pleased.
