A human jawbone is discovered at the Jeffersonian and Brennan and the team determine it is from the Gormogon serial killer. Following an explosion in the lab that sends Zack to the emergency room, Gormogon's skeleton disappears from the vault making everyone at the Jeffersonian a suspect.

Because of the 2007 WGA writers' strike, the Gormagon story arc was fast-forwarded and this episode served as the closing episode for that arc. Originally, the arc was planned to last through the original order of 22 episodes.

Angela: You guys are pathetic.
Brennan: (to Booth) Just know I won't be attending your next funeral.
Booth: Bones, I'm telling you, you were supposed to know that I wasn't really dead, I swear! That's why I thought you weren't crying!

| While Sweets is giving his TV interview, the victim from "Death in the Saddle" is shown. However, that episode was not part of the Gormagon killings.
| Earlier episodes stated Gormogon only uses widow's sons as apprentices; however, both of Zack's parents are alive.
| Brennan says 180 centimeters is about 5'8". However, 180 is just shy of 5'11".
