The scene opens on Saturday, the day after Gabriela Reyes mentioned of the cover-up. Kane goes into a bar and talks to an old friend, Ryan Kavanaugh and asks to talk to him. He says that he can spare time for him. Meanwhile, Ross meets with Ezra Stone and tells him that they want Kane to gracefully step down or else they will start the impeachment process. He asks who is involved in this and he says that the wheels are in motion. Kitty meets with Elliot McGantry and he says that the citizens of Bensenville have a good case. She tells him that the Mayor will look at this and get back to him. Kane walks with Kavanaugh and reminisces on old times. He tells him that he is thinking of quitting, but Kaveanaugh tells him that it is not going to happen because he is a good man and has done a lot. Ben calls Kitty and tells her that he needs to see her. She asks what is going on and he says that he is thinking of dropping out of the race run next year for Mayor against Kane. She tells him that is suicide. He tells her that it doesn’t have to be like that and that they could get on top of this.
Kane and Kavenaugh continue to talk and Kavenaugh says that he has to do something bad to do something good. Kane says that he can remember the wrong that he did before and says that he is turning into a monster, but Kavenaugh tells Kane that he is not one because he built so much for Chicago. Kane says that he needs a favor. Ezra goes into Mata’s office and asks if he is trying to mess with them along with Ross. He says that he isn’t. Ezra says that it would be terrible for him to be on the wrong side of things when things have settled. Kitty gets into the office and Ezra asks if everything is alright. She says that she is fine and says that she has been trying to get a hold of Kane. He tells her to wait patiently. Meredith gets into Ezra’s office and asks where Kane is. She asks how bad it is. Ezra says that it is bad. She says that it isn’t impossible to see Chicago without Kane, but doesn’t like that it is might end like this. She asks him if he has thought about the end and he says that he hasn’t and that it can’t end like this.
Sam tries to call Gabriela Reyes, but gets her voicemail. Kavenaugh meets with Gabriela and they are at a hospital where Ryes’ brother is inside. Kavenaugh says that she needs to redact her statement or they will uncover all the things that she covered up to save her brother from getting killed after he ripped open a girl’s throat. She agrees to do it. Kane walks up and says that he feels bad for making her do this, but Kavenaugh says that she did a lot worse then he could ever do. Kane goes into see Emma and sees Darius leaving. She asks him what he needs and he says that he would like some water. Kane asks about the man and asks what he does to help. He says that he doesn’t want to be compromised and she tells him that she has it covered. Meredith meets with men and they tell her that there are people making serious moves against Kane. Kitty tells the team that they need to get an order from Kane. He comes in and tells them that the Ryes’ incident is done and tells them that she is going to recant her statement. Kitty tells him about the lawsuit and he tells her that he doesn’t care about the sideliners and says that he wants to deal with bigger issues.
Kane meets with Ezra who tells him that Ross and Mata are among those trying to impeach him and he says that they need to find out who else is involved. He asks about Debra and asks if they found her. He says that he can’t afford to wait. Later, at the press conference, Gabriela recants and Ross and Mata see it and realize that they can’t impeach him. Kane talks to Gabriela and she spits in his face. Ben calls Ross and he says that Kane is up and they have to move fast. Ross says that he needs his answer by tonight. Ben gets home and his wife is there. She asks what he is doing home and he says that he wanted to take a break. He tells her that he missed her, but she sees through him. Ben lies and says that everything fine. He kisses his wife and leaves. Emma goes up to Darius and he says that he didn’t like that his father was there and tells her that he better not know who he is. Suddenly a car pulls around and Darius takes Emma and runs. His friend is caught and is beaten up. Emma says that she is going to call the police, but Darius says that they are not going to help. He tells Emma to go back to her safe place and not help colored people. She smacks him and he pushes back. He kisses her and they get “busy”. Emma starts mumbling just like Kane.
Ross meets with Mata and tells him that they can’t afford to break ranks. Mata says that they need to wait. Ross tells him that Mata is more then Kane allows him to be. Ross says that he gives more respect to Mata then that. At the same moment, Kane’s man takes pictures and calls up Ezra. Kane gets home to find Meredith and Mayor Rutledge there, but it is only Peter Baine there and not Mayor Rutledge. They sit down with him and Peter talks about Sam Miller. He says that Sam is selling papers. Peter says that he needs another Radio Tower and Kane says that he will see what he can do. Kane smacks Meredith and tells her never to blindside him again. She tells him that it was the right play to make. Meredith looks at herself in the mirror and thinks.
Ezra meets with some men and they tell that Cullen looks good. Ezra asks Frank about what the temperature is and he says that it is kind of hot for Kane. Ezra tells the men that when Kane is elected again, he is going to have to tell Kane of the men who didn’t want to go with him. Meanwhile, Ross meets with Moco and Ross asks how his alliance to Mata is. He says that he is his Alderman and that is all. Ross says that Mata isn’t going to be Alderman for very long and says that he will be in charge of all contracts given. Later that night, Moco has Mata and has taken out his teeth. He tells him that they don’t need him and stabs him. He then has the men put him in a hole and they bury him. Ben meets with Ross and he tells him that it sounds good that he is going drop out of the race. Ben leaves and sees Ross’ wife, Tia, come home. He looks her up and down and smiles.
Ezra comes into Kane’s office and Kane is told that he has been served. He doesn’t like that at all and that they didn’t take a settlement. He asks about Debra again and he says that he has a lead. He tells him to find her. Meanwhile, Kitty looks at all the pictures of the children affected from the water contamination. She gets sick from looking at them. Ezra calls up Mata, but there is not answer because he is dead and buried. Ben meets with Meredith and she asks him if he is prepared for the wrath of her husband. She says that running against him won’t be easy and says that she will help him win. The episode ends. Share this article with your friends
