	Paul Lewiston [Episodes 13-68, recurring otherwise], played by Rene Auberjonois Paul is the behind the scenes partner of Crane, Poole, & Schmidt. He doesn't spend a lot of his time in the courtroom. Paul spends most of it making sure that firm is in good standing and handling damage control in case Denny is up to something. If it wasn't for his silent contributions, the firm would be more like an asylum where the inmates are in charge. We learn Paul has a daughter who is addicted to illegal substances. Paul later scales back his workload to take care of his granddaughter. Carl Sack is called in to take over Paul's day-to-day job in the firm.
