thanks. i appreciate it.

while i'm sad. i choose to celebrate a person's life and not mourn their death. he was a great man and loved by everyone. he will be missed, but my memories and the memories of others will allow him to live on.

Even if he goes crazy, I will still call Chris "Superman"

I agree with that, actually.
What was he like? Were you close?

I'm glad. I know so many people who barely know their grandparents, because they live too far away. I pity them.

I had one grandfather I was pretty close to - he was a brilliant jazz pianist, taught me my first chords, and left me his piano when he died.

My other grandfather.... well, that's a sadder story. He abandoned my grandmother and his daughters (my mom & aunt) and never knew us. He moved away and never contacted us again. I just found out in October that he died a few years ago. I shed no tears for him, since I never knew him.

What did you used to do when you spent time with your grandfather?

my dad's father left my grandmother when my dad was 4. i never met the man and i believe he died in the early 80's. i have no idea what he looked like. my mom's dad died 16 years ago.

by the way, we are talking about ebmod's father. he is everything that she isn't. my dad's been married to her for over 20 years, by the way. he lived next door to my dad and ebmod for about the last 17 years.

moving on,... we played cards and lots of them. every game that you could think of. we'd go to detroit tigers games. it was easy to visit him seeing he lived next door.

Now that's just awesome. I don't know what it is with old people and cards, but that is a really good time. I loves me some cards, and grandparents know so many games.

He does indeed sound like a great guy. How did embod turn out as she did, then, I wonder. Weird.

btw - I was going to ask earlier, but forgot, who is that in your new avatar? I know I should know, but it isn't coming to me. One of my students painted his face as a portrait in black watercolor. It was brilliant.

AH, okay. Now I remember.
I was going to ask my student, but they already suspect I'm a big goofball. Didn't want her to KNOW I am.

Still... I miss Silent Bob already.

Fine.

I was just bluffin'. I don't even have the Joey avatar on this computer. And I'm too lazy to go log onto my laptop right now. I'm still liking Rita, anyway.

Well, I'd better drag my ass off to bed. Tomorrow's a school day.

I hope the memorial service goes well. I'll PM you.
Or if you're home and awake when I'm up for coffee in 8 hours, pop in.
Goodnight, Casey.
