Alan Shore gets the dream of a lifetime for an attorney when he is asked to present an appeal to the Supreme Court in the case of a mentally challenged man who has been sentenced to death for the rape of a young girl. Meanwhile, Katie Lloyd learns some startling news from Lorraine Weller about Jerry Espenson's new girlfriend.

Sounds super-duper. Discuss! |

Well Holy Crap this might be the best Boston Legal episode I've witnessed in quite a long, long time.
The whole crap with Jerry and Dana I could care less about especially that Jerry is such a self-righteous loser but anyways, Alan's confrontation with Supreme Court was simply brilliant. Whoever wrote this episode deserves a pat on the back here. The Supreme Court has been corrupt, unlawful and a group of men and women with special interests only for a long time (I just finished reading the Court's handling of Al Gore/Bush Florida fiasco).
Likewise, Alan's brief history on Louisiana and it's treatment of black people is something that most news media sources are afraid to touch. Overall, great episode.

Alan may be right and I agree with his arguments, but I kept rolling my eyes anyway because NO WAY would the Supreme Court let him bash them like that without tossing him out. I found it very unrealistic to how the Supreme Court actually works. You can't go there, insult them, argue from an emotional stance like that and expect to win.
Still though, entertaining. |

Dammit guy, I'm buying you a subscription to TV Guide. Wait, better yet, just check the front page of this site every day so you know what will be on. I'm on the west coast... you can't rely on me to make threads in time for you. |

I enjoyed the episode and agreed 100% with everything in Alan's speech, but I agree with Cindy -- it wasn't believable whatsoever.
Having said that, it was definitely a classic. I like that the writers are gutsy enough to write about a real court case and get a message out to the public that may not hear about the case otherwise.
I liked the sub-story with Jerry losing his cherry, but it didn't seem to mesh too well with the episode. I would have liked seeing the entire staff working on a Supreme Court case.
