"Boston Legal" enters the 3rd Season welcoming newcomers Jeffrey Coho (Craig Bierko) and Claire Simms (Constance Zimmer) in the second episode of the season. They join Alan Shore (James Spader), Denise Bauer (Julie Bowen), Brad Chase (Mark Valley), Paul Lewiston (Rene Auberjonois), Shirley Schmidt (Candice Bergen), and Denny Crane (William Shatner) at Crane, Poole, & Schmidt. Coho has since left the show while Clarence/Clarice Bell (Gary Anthony Williams) has joined the cast.

Highlights of the season include Daniel Post and Denise Bauer's engagement, Denny's involvement with a 'midget', Daniel Post's death, the murder trial against Scott Little, the kidnapping of Shirley Schmidt, the return of Sally Heep, and the case against a man accused of cannibalism. Also, Denise finds out she is having Brad's baby and the two of them get engaged.

Notable guest stars include Katey Sagal, Tyler Labine, Anthony Heald, Michael J. Fox, Tom Selleck, Betty White, Lake Bell, Joan Rivers, Gail O'Grady, Jaleel White, Jayne Lynch, Currie Graham, William Russ, David Bottrell, Meredith Eaton, Nia Long, Delta Burke, Ed Begley Jr., and Christian Clemenson.
