The final season of Boston Legal saw the attorneys of Crane, Poole, & Schmidt take on more dramatic and comedic cases during the 2008-2009 television season. Alan Shore, Carl Sack, Katie Lloyd, Jerry Espenson, Shirley Schmidt and Denny Crane (James Spader, John Larroquette, Tara Summers, Christian Clemenson, Candice Bergen and William Shatner respectively) make up the main lawyers from the Boston law firm.

Cases include taking on the USDA who won't allow a cattle rancher to test all of her cows, Jerry defending himself against a bully, Denny shooting a criminal, and Alan defending a friend's husband against murder. Other big storylines include Denny being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, the firm going bankrupt, and Shirley's big Thanksgiving dinner.

Notable guest stars include former cast members Julie Bowen and Rene Auberjonois, Larry Miller, Betty White, Christopher Rich, Valerie Bertinelli, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Henry Gibson, Roma Maffia, William Daniels, and Kyle Secor.
