Series 5, Semi Final - 2 - Recap

With Ronan Parke and Paul Gbebbaje. through to the finals, the next eight performing for the public vote are: Two & A Half Men, Enchantment, Herbie Armstrong, New Bounce, Jean Martyn, David & Karen and Up & Over It. Plus there is a surprise for the lineup as well. Ant and Dec come out in their best and the judges come out dressed in their best as well. Ant and Dec asks the judges about the first set of Semi-Finalists and David says that they are going to have to step it up. Michael says that Paul was really good and Amanda is confused because Simon just untied her. Simon says that he is looking forward to it.

They get started and first up is “Two & A Half Men”. They tell about their time together and how they have fun. They come out and they are really good with their timing and dance moves. Afterward, they get a standing ovation from the audience. Simon says that he thought it was terrific and the ending could have been bigger, but he likes them. David says that they improved and thought they did a great job. Michael says that they have amazing stage presence. Amanda says that they were really animated and says that they have a shot.

“Enchantment” is next and they have a mixture of people and they have been rehearsing in a warehouse and hope that their lives will change. They come out and Simon buzzes them right off. Amanda buzzes as well. David says that it started off weak, but says that the singing was amazing. He says that it was like “Cats” in a blender. Michael says that it was a little disjointed for him. Amanda says that she was disappointed. Simon says that the whole thing was totally mad and it didn’t make sense and says like it was “Magical Round About”.

Next is Herbie Armstrong. He says that it is like a dream and it is a dream for him to be a solo artist. He comes out on stage and sings “Mandy”. Michael says that there is a real vulnerability to him that makes him great. Amanda says that he is so cute and that he kind of lost her at first, but she loved it. Simon says that he has a nice voice, but it is like a sad bloodhound. David says that he loved every minute of it.

Lorna Bliss is the surprise finalist because their was something missing to the talent. David was the one who fought to get her back. She comes out and it is not as sultry as before, but her singing is still horrible. After the act, David says that he didn’t recognize her with her clothes on and he was disappointed. Michael says that she may look like Britney Spears, but she needed more. Amanda says that she didn’t do what she thought and it wasn’t good enough. Simon says that he saw her audition tape and it was limp just like her python and it wasn’t that good.

Up next is “New Bounce”. They tell that they have been friends for two years and they have been having a lot of fun and want to make a career on their singing. They come out and they are really good. Afterward, they get a standing ovation from the audience and David too. Simon says that this is the first time where he has seen an act that will be popular in the real world and says that they are the ones to beat. David says that they were unbelievable. Michael says that he said no to them in the auditions and they have totally turned it around. Amanda says that they were amazing. They tell that they love to hear the praises from the judges.

Jean Martyn is next and she tells about her life in her home and says that all her life she wanted to be a concert pianist. She comes out and she gets the crowd moving in their seats especially Michael and Amanda. Afterward, she gets a standing ovation. David says that he loves her and says that she makes him smile. Michael says that she loved it too and says that he can see her filling stadiums. Amanda says that she is like Victoria Wood on Acid. Simon says that he shouldn’t like it, but he did like it.

Next up is “David & Karen”. They tell that they are amazed that they are there and they want to prove that magic is fantastic. They perform and they do an amazing trick with him taking the place of the other under water. Afterward, they get a standing ovation. Michael was so amazed that he forgot he was there. He loved it. Amanda says that it was very exciting and have broken the curse on magic on “Brittan’s Got Talent”. Simon says that it was really great. David says that he was holding his breath for her and it was amazing.

Last act of the night, Up & Over It. They tell that it is amazing that they are in the Semi-Finals. They come out and they are great. Simon buzzes at the end though. Amanda says that it was well presented and it was good to see the footwork too. However, she says that there was something missing. Simon says that he struggled through it and says that it was interesting for 30 seconds, but then it was horrible. He says that no one will pay for the act. David says that he missed the simplicity. However, Michael says that he found it entertaining and impressive.
