For Better or For Worse - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Sarah tells Brody he's her father. He's stunned. She wants nothing to do
with him. She expects him to stay away from Nora. She walks out of the
bar and gets into Kitty's waiting vehicle. She's upset because he got
all teary on her.

Scotty and Kevin feed their baby boy, together. They sing to him, in
harmony no less. Olivia is practically invisible. They forget that she
has soccer. Kevin will cancel a client so he can bring her. Scotty
can't, something about a car seat that they ordered.

Luc is very upset, room reservations have been messed up. The woman who
is summoned to help them turns out to be an old flame of Justin's. She
goes to find out how their block of rooms got lost. Luc tells Justin
she's obviously interested, but he's sure that not only is he wrong, but
there's no way she's still single. She finds the reservations, and she
and Justin lock gazes. He refuses to make a move. She walks away, and
Luc calls him pitiful.

Nora and Saul go over the seating. There's a knock at the door, followed
by a ringing doorbell. It's Brody. She won't answer the door, so he
calls her cell. In honor of Sarah's wishes, she refuses to let him in.
He honors Nora's wishes, and ends the call.

Kevin and Kitty talk about Sarah while she cuddles Daniel. She's baby
blissed.

Luc and Sarah fill out their marriage license paperwork. She's all
freaked out about all the questions regarding her father. Luc is worried
because she's obviously a bit flipped.

Justin, Nora and Saul work on seating. They of course start talking
about Brody. Saul wants to be heard out, but she talks over him. She
reminisces about her relationship with Brody when she was 19. She feels
like she could have ended up with him, but William proposed. He didn't
say anything. He didn't fight for her. That was it. She married William.

Brody gave her a necklace he was saving for her birthday. It's
beautiful. He jokes about it being a family heirloom. It's a goodbye
present, so he won't forget her. She says she could never forget him.
They kiss, passionately.

Nora is running errands, and runs into Brody. He thinks it's destiny.
She asks him if he ever got that station wagon fixed. He says no, he had
to take a bus. Maybe the universe was trying to tell him something then,
too. She tells him to come over tonight, around 7:00.

The Frenchmen start arriving. One of them flirts with Tyler, and Justin
drags him away. Tyler speaks French, and throws a few sentences to
Pierre. Justin tells her he's there to see her. He tells her he's been
sober three years, and apologizes for how things ended. He'd like a
second chance. She doesn't think it's a good idea. She isn't any more
specific than that. He starts to walk away, but tells her the way
things have been lately, he realizes the importance of honesty so he
speaks to her again. She agrees to drinks, tonight. Late is good, he'll
see her after the bachelor party.

Olivia is acting out. They try to work with her, but she's very closed
in and guarded. She knocks over a lamp on her way out, and snaps at
Kevin when he tells her to pick it up. The lamp wakes up Daniel, and
Scotty goes to him.

Nora, Sarah and Kitty are going over the menu. It's too late to change
it, but Kitty says no. It's Sarah's wedding, and she will have the food
she wants. Nora keeps looking at her watch, it's getting late and she
needs to get home. The girls want to order Thai. Nora erupts. Sarah
ordered her not to talk about Brody. So she's not; but Sarah is. Kitty
asks them to stop. Sarah's going stir-crazy, and wants to go out for a
drink. Or, even better - they crashed Luc's bachelor party.

Nora tries to head home again, and Sarah hits the nail on the head. She
keeps pushing at Nora, and Nora admits that she doesn't know what's
going on. Sarah gets manipulative. She tells Nora that she doesn't know
what she'd do if Nora picks Brody over her. Nora assures her she'd never
do that, and heads out.

The bachelor party is going swimmingly. Luc is upset, because Sarah
isn't answering any of his texts. Kevin gets news that Olivia and Daniel
are finally asleep. Tyler texts Justin that she can't make it. Kevin
asks what the big deal is, and Justin says that well, he was in love
with this girl, and when he saw her again .... never mind. He'll go see
strippers with Luc's family.

Kevin gets a call. Olivia ran away from home, back to her old group home.

Brody arrives at Nora's. He parked his RV around the corner at her
behest. She doesn't want to start sneaking around with him. He brought
her donuts. He figures they all just need some time to adjust to the
news. She thinks they need to figure out how to say goodbye to each
other. He asks if that's what she wants, and she goes to fix them a drink.

Sarah and Kitty arrive, and love the bouncer when he asks for their
id's. Sarah doesn't have her id, because she thinks she left it at the
county clerk's office. He doesn't care how old she is. If he can't see
some identification, she's not going in the club. Sarah freaks out on
him. Kitty drags her away. She is finally honest about how finding out
her parentage has thrown her. She thinks William left her Ojai Foods to
prove something. She says Kitty isn't even her sister, she's her
half-sister. Kitty gives her holy what-for. Sarah blows her off and
grabs a cab.

Kevin and Scotty get together with Olivia. They don't know how to handle
things with her. She sees Daniel as their first choice. She doesn't
matter now. Scotty tells her she's the only one who knows how Daniel
feels. He's surrounded by new people in a new house. She's the only one
who knows how he feels. He asks for her help. She finally smiles.

Brody fills Nora in on what she doesn't know about the night Sarah was
born. He drove all the way back to the hospital, and William was an
unmitigated jerk. He tore Brody down. He says he's building a business,
a real business, and someday it will be Sarah's. He says Nora thought
what she did with Brody was a mistake, and that's why she told William.
He tells him if he wants to do the right thing, he needs to go in Nora's
room and lie about his blood type. Brody tells William that if he'd done
the right thing that day, William wouldn't even be there.

Brody goes in to see Nora, and they talk. Finally, he asks her if she
loves William, and there is a long pause before she says yes, of course
I do. In present time, Nora tells him she had to say that. William told
her that if she didn't send Brody away, and out of her life, he wouldn't
sign the birth certificate. And he would leave her and Sarah all on
their own. He waited two weeks before he would sign it, just to be sure
Brody was gone. She thinks that somewhere inside, she believes she told
him about Brody because she hoped he would leave, and Brody would come,
and everything would be alright.

Brody does what William demanded, and lies about his blood type.

Nora and Brody realize that William was conspiring against them. He
joins her on the couch, takes her hand and kisses her forehead.

Saul and Sarah share a bottle of wine. She wonders if William ever had
her tested. Did he know? Saul said if so, it's a secret he took to his
grave. He really feels she should talk to Nora. She says she will. Kitty
joins them in the bar. She's starving. She's willing to eat stale bread,
even.

Sarah apologizes to Kitty for leaving her sister high-and-dry. She
promises Kitty she'll never refer to her as a half again.

Justin and the boys get back from the party. The Frenchmen are all
toasted. Tyler is still at work. She sent the night clerk home because
she wanted to be alone to think. She's playing with a wedding ring, but
sets him straight. She's separated. She's had a terrible year. They
don't live together, and they barely speak. She thought maybe Justin
could be a good thing in her life. He stands up and kisses her.

Sarah arrives to talk to Nora and finds her with Brody, lying under a
blanket sleeping (fully-clothed) on a couch in front of the fire. Nora
wakes up and sees her, and Sarah runs.
