Brothers & Sisters

Show Tidbits
Tom Skerritt (William Walker) and Sally Field (Nora Walker) previously played a married couple in the 1989 film Steel Magnolias.

Rob Lowe's character's name, Robert McCallister, was previously used by executive producer Greg Berlanti in his WB series, Jack and Bobby. Parallels to Jack & Bobby also include Robert being married to a woman named Courtney and a son named Jack.

Production changes: In the original pilot, the Walker family matriarch was named Iva and was played by Betty Buckley. The role was later recast with Sally Field and renamed to Nora. The pilot also included Bryan, who was played by Jonathan LaPaglia, which was later recast with Matthew Rhys and renamed Kevin. Kevin's storyline also changed from being an ex-husband recently coming to grips with his homosexuality to a single lawyer comfortable with his sexuality.

This show is really a family affair. Ken Olin is an executive producer and plays David Caplan, his wife Patricia Wettig plays David's partner, Holly Harper. Their son, Cliff Olin, wrote several episodes. Their daughter, Roxy Olin, played Michelle McGregor, the surrogate chosen by Scott and Kevin. Sally Field's son, Eli Craig, directed an episode. David Annable (Justin) is married to Odette Yustman, who plays Justin's partner Annie. Kerris Lilla Dorsey's (Paige Whedon) sister Justine Dorsey played Robert's daughter, Sophie McCallister.
