Alexander 'Xander' Harris, played by Nicholas Brendon
Xander Harris has been best friends with Willow since they were toddlers, and he quickly became friends with Buffy when she arrived in Sunnydale, at which time he also developed a crush on her. Xander provides much of the comic relief with his sarcastic comments and cynical attitude, but he has, on several occasions helped to avert apocalypse. He revived Buffy so she could defeat the Master, he helped destroy the Judge with his military knowledge, he led the attack by Sunnydale High students on the Mayor, he helped Buffy to defeat Adam by partaking in a magical ritual and he stopped Willow from destroying the world. He chose not to enroll in college like Willow and Buffy, instead he took on a series of odd jobs. He had his left eye gouged out by Caleb in the final season, but survived the final battle. Xander had no distinctive powers, like the rest of the gang, instead he was just the normal guy, but he was a capable fighter and very loyal to his friends. |
