Angel [Season 1-3], played by David Boreanaz
Angel is a vampire with a soul. He was sired by Darla in 1753, after which he roamed around Europe killing and causing mayhem wherever he went. During which time he sired Drusilla and trained Spike. At the end of the nineteenth century he killed a member of a gypsy tribe, and the tribe got its revenge by restoring his soul. He wandered around America for years, in a state of pity and remorse, before he was persuaded to join the fight against evil. He went to Sunnydale to help the new Slayer (Buffy) and quickly fell for her. The two fell in love, but when they consumated their relationship the curse was lifted and Angel's soul was removed again. Angel then went about tormenting Buffy and her friends, before trying to destroy the world. In order to stop the destruction of the world, Buffy was forced to kill Angel. However partway through series 3 Angel was returned to Earth, where he again started a relationship with Buffy. But he decided that they couldn't pursue it because they were both so different and could never lead a proper life together. So Angel left Sunnydale and headed to LA, where he continued the fight against evil. |
