Buffy: You’re like a textbook with arms.
A very exciting start to the series that would be full of action and exciting twists. The series comes in the way it left; with a bang (and a feeling of dark gloom and destruction).

Buffy Summers just wants an ordinary life, but she quickly learns that will not be happening when, at Sunnydale High School, she is introduced to the Hellmouth and all of its happening. The evil vampire master is plotting to raise, well, hell and it's up to Buffy to stop it. But she doesn't wanna...

Giles personality shines in this episode and he teaches Buffy the way of her life as a slayer, despite her resistance; his knowledge and concern for the duties of a slayer come through his speeches.

Xander and Willow's relationship plays off well as they are now inadvertedly introduced to the world of the Hellmouth; all because they mingled with the new girl.

Cordelia's character is established as the bitchy popular girl in the highschool whose only purpose is to point out the weird happenings around Buffy (who, incidentally, is always saving her life.)

A very nice start to an awesome series; starting from the beginning with death and destruction and action-pack fight scenes (and jam-packed with creepy scenes by the mysterious Angel!)
