Episode Summary |
| |
When a demon named Moloch is accidentally released into the Sunnydale computer system, he begins to go target Willow, by posing as a teenage boy named Malcolm and chatting with her through Internet connection. However, Buffy becomes concerned with Willow's growing relationship with this mystery boy and tries to uncover the truth. When she gets her nose in too deep, Moloch sends his minions to dispose of her.

Giles: Destroy the world's economy.
Buffy: I think I pretty much capped it with that nuclear missile thing.
Giles: Right, yours was best.
| Moloch: (to Willow) Don't you see? I can give you everything! I can control the world! Right now a man in Beijing is transferring money to a Swiss bank account for a contract on his mother's life. Good for him.
| Buffy: Hey, did you forget? The one boy I've had the hots for since I've moved here turned out to be a vampire.
Xander: Right, and the teacher I had a crush on? Giant praying mantis.
Willow: That's true.
Xander: Yeah, that's life on the Hellmouth.
Buffy: Let's face it: none of us are ever gonna have a happy, normal relationship.
Xander: We're doomed!
Willow: Yeah.
(they all laugh about it, then stop once they realize what this means for them)

Willow is seen "logging off" her computer, by simply turning off her monitor. Willow is a character known for her strong computer skills, which is why it doesn't make much sense for her to do this.

A reference to Spider-Man, who is known for saying his spider sense is tingling whenever he senses trouble.
| Title: I, Robot... You, Jane.
This is a reference to Tarzan and Jane. Tarzan, the main character, spoke poor English and made "Me, Tarzan. You, Jane" a well-known catchphrase.
The first half of the episode is also a reference to the Issac Asimov book of short stories entitled I, Robot.
