...,attack me one at a time.
Quite an interesting episode to watch. Every true Buffy fan should see this, despite it's horrible quality, quick-theme, poor editing and effects and lack of music, it is part of Buffy history. It follows the same plot of the eventually aired episode "Welcome to Hellmouth", but is reduced to a 20-minute form.
This episode is unique because of many reasons, including: Willow's portrayed by the polar opposite, Riff Regan, who is a shy, heavyset brunette; Buffy is a brunette, not the blonde we know; Angel is not present in the episode; no appearance by the big bad of season one, The Master.
The relationships between the characters are perceived to be the same as in the eventual series, Willow close to Xander, as they live as the nerds together; with Buffy willing to fit in with that crowd, but also seemingly able to get along with Cordelia and her crew. Giles still holds the fatherly watcher guise.
This episode contains minimal special effects including very lame dusting of vampires, no background music occurs during fight scenes and stunts are not are exciting as in the eventual series. But, as I said, it holds a place in my heart as the pilot to the show we love, and every true Buffy fan should watch it!
