Square One - Recap

The scene opens with Michael holding the gun that implicates him in the murder of Max. Jesse comes in and tells that Michael is covered with receipts that keep him in Key West at the time of the murder of Max. They get rid of the murder weapon and Jesse tells that he is on board. Later, Michael goes in to see Agent Pearce, the agent running the investigation. She tells that she is Max’s replacement as well. Michael meets with Fiona who doesn’t like the fact that Michael is working with the CIA investigation. He says that by working with them, he can steer the investigation away from him. Ethan, a former Special Ops soldier, comes up to Michael and asks for his help on the fact that his sister was beaten up by her new boyfriend, Brandon. He asks if Michael can use his resources to help him. Michael says that if he helps, Brandon goes to jail and not the grave. Ethan agrees.

Fiona and Sam go to Brandon’s home and his mother answers the door. They tell that Brandon got $2,000 that they need to give him. His mother takes the check and tells that she will give him the check. They walk back and Ethan asks them what they do now. Sam tells that they wait. Meanwhile, Michael meets with Pearce and asks what they are doing now. She tells that the FBI is looking into the cell phone calls that were made in Max’s building at the time and before his murder. Michael offers to take over that and she agrees when Michael tells that she can do it faster. Later that day, Michael and Ethan wait for Brandon and Michael reads the numbers that were called. He says that they have to wait. Ethan starts to get restless and says that in Afghanistan, it was simple. Michael tells that there were spies who sat in cars to get the intell that allowed soldiers to pull the trigger and says for him to relax. Brandon pulls up to the house and Michael stops Ethan and tells that they will get him when he leaves. Michael gets Brandon in the car and Ethan chokes him with a seat belt. However, Michael tells that Brandon wasn’t the one who beat Heather, Ethan’s sister.

At Michael’s, Ethan asks Brandon what happened and Brandon says that his boss, Brad Ramsey. He says that he runs a medical scam and Brandon skimmed some money. However, Ramsey found out. Ethan tells that Brandon left Heather in front of a hospital bleeding and Brandon tells that Ethan was too busy playing “Captain America” in Afghanistan. Ethan smacks Brandon and Michael tells Ethan to cool off. Michael asks Brandon about Ramsey. Later, Michael goes up to Ethan, who is at the hospital watching Heather. Michael says that he knows how to get the guy. Michael, Sam and Ethan watch from a distance as Ramsey makes a deal. He says that they have to talk to Ramsey about the scam. Ethan volunteers to talk to him. Michael is hesitant at first and agrees to teach him. Sam and Ethan go into Ramsey’s place and say that they want to offer him a business deal. As they talk, Ethan almost blows it when he calls him a “Bushleak”. However, Sam brings it back. Meanwhile, Jesse comes up to Michael and says that he has traced a call from a burner cell and says that he traced it to a Bodega and is going to look at their security tapes. Michael says that he really owes Jesse. Sam calls and says that they are all set thanks to Sam’s lady friend, Elsa. Jesse teases Michael for the changes that Fiona is introducing.

Later, Ramsey comes to the mansion and meets with Ethan and Fiona. They lead them to meet Jesse and talk about how they need Brandon in the merger between his company and theirs. He is a little weary and Sam tells that the boss is here. Michael comes out in the car that was lent to Sam by Elsa and says that he is not ready to sign. He says that it seems too good to be true. He asks if they are cops. Michael torches Ramsey’s car and tells that he isn’t a cop. Michael gives Ramsey Jesse’s car as a “thinking car”. Jesse tells that he is going to want his Porsche back. Michael says that he is working on that. Ethan tells that he wants to get to the stage where they kick Ramsey’s butt. Sam tells that they are going to bug Ramsey to listen in on him. Sam asks what happened to the work bench and he says that Fiona wanted it. They bug the watch with no problems.

Ramsey meets with Ethan. He says that the boss is ready. Ethan gives Ramsey the watch and tells him not to take it off. Sam and Michael talk to Ramsey and tell him that the details that he gave were a waste. Michael tells that they need all the details. Ramsey says that he will talk to his guys and says that he is keeping the car. Sam tells that Michael needs to get the car back. Meanwhile, Fiona and Jesse pose as police officers and tell the owner of the Bodega that they need the security tapes. He tries to extort them for $500, but Jesse and Fiona tell him that they can arrest him for other things. He gives them up reluctantly with a carton of cigarettes. Michael goes to Madeline and asks here to review tapes. Later, Ethan, Jesse and Fiona listen to the conversation between Ramsey and Joel, another member of his crew. He says that he is going to take care of Heather. Ethan says that he needs some air, but he takes off. They go to where he is and see Ethan perched and ready to kill Ramsey. Fiona shoots the windshield to distract Ethan.

They get Ethan back to Madeline’s place and Michael is upset that he didn’t wait. Ethan tells that Ramsey has left him three voice messages. Jesse laughs that the person Ramsey is reaching out is the person who tried to kill him. Ethan tells that he doesn’t want to wait anymore and storms outside. Madeline tells that Michael was just like Ethan and that he needs to calm him down. Michael goes out and tells him that they will take Ramsey down. Michael tells that Ethan is going to convince him to sell out his crew and then torch everything. Michael and Ethan get to Ramsey’s and tell him to turn his crew to the cops. He agrees and then Ethan tells him to torch the house. They do it and drive to Michael who has a plane. Ethan asks if there are any more lose ends. He says that Heather in the hospital. Ethan tells him to take care of it. At the hospital, Ramsey is about to poison the IV drip when he is arrested. Ethan, disguised as a doctor walks by them and Ramsey tries to point the finger to him, but they don’t care. Later, Michael tells Ethan that Ramsey is enjoying his jail time with all his friends that he ratted out. Ethan tells that he is having lunch with the CIA recruiters. He asks if he could do it all over again, would he do it. Michael tells that it is who he is.

Michael goes in to see Pearce and she tells that the CIA has been on her to get on this case and says that there is nothing. Michael tells that he has the footage of the Bodega and has gotten their surveillance videos. She thanks him and tells that she expects the report on her desk tomorrow. He gets back home and Madeline asks about the case on Max and asks if there is anything that she should know. Michael tells that he is being framed for the murder and is trying to clear his name. However, when Madeline shows the video tape of the Bodega, Michael’s imposter has his look, walk and mannerisms. She tells him that it is going to be hard to convince the CIA that it is not him.
