Fail Safe - Recap

The scene opens with Sam, Michael and Fiona looking at documents. Michael says that they need to go today and says that they are not going to allow security officers to stop him. Fiona says that she is going to end it all. Later, Fiona lines up for a shot and Michael walks up to Anson. He says that it is over now and says that he knows what Anson is trying to do. Fiona tells Michael not to listen to Anson as he tries to tell Michael that he gave him a life. Michael protects Anson from Fiona’s shot and Anson says that this is good. Michael tells him that it isn’t over and Anson says that it will be over soon. Fiona can’t believe that Michael listened to him. Back at the loft, Fiona is upset with Michael and says that there is no happy ending, but Sam shows them that they have something that they can use. Michael says that Pearce has a job for him and Sam says that he and Fiona will take care of the home that Anson has in Tampa.

Michael goes to Pearce and she says that he is going to be in the lead of grabbing
He meets with the team and they get planning. Meanwhile, Fiona and Sam arrive at the facility and Fiona says that they are going to need a big rig. Michael and his team wait for Reed, the spy recruiter, and Pearce alerts them that Reed is there. The team lines up their plan and Michael tells them to remain calm. Rebecca, one of the team members, is a little nervous, but she says that she is always like that. They move in, but a car gets in their way and causes them to crash. Later, Pearce says that the mission was supposed to be quiet. Michael says that he has a plan and says that he can get someone to act like someone interested in working for Reed. Jesse is called in to be “that guy” and chats it up with everyone. Reed comes up to him and asks him if he wants to come up to his suite. Later, Reed talks to Jesse and says that he works with men who want to buy secrets of the government. Reed says that if Jesse is wasting his time, there are worst things then the gas chamber.

Fiona and Sam bust into the facility and talk to Jake, Anson’s caretaker. He says that he can’t go anywhere because Anson made it clear that he is not allowed to leave and that his C4 and other supplies are not to leave either. However, they convince him to leave. As he comes out, there is a beeping noise coming from the building. Sam tells Jake to forget about it and to run, but it is too late. The facility blows up. Sam calls Michael and tells him that they have nothing on Anson. Michael is upset about it and says that he is meeting with Anson right now. Anson comes up and says that Michael looks like he got some really bad news like a facility in Tampa. Michael is shocked that he knows about that. Anson tells Michael that he is going to have to put a SD card into Pierce’s computer and it is going to get Pierce and the team that Michael burned. Michael meets with Sam, Jesse and Fiona and tells them that they don’t have a way out of it and Fiona tells him that she doesn’t want to play the game anymore. Michael says that if he needs to do it, he will find a way to reverse it. Jesse tells him that they are going to have to go if they are going to catch Reed.

Michael goes over the plan with Pearce and she likes it. She tells him that if everything goes well, his future at the agency looks bright. Pearce tells Michael and Rebecca that they have 10 minutes to get the gun planted on Reed’s plane so that they can take Reed in. Rebecca plants the gun and tells Michael that she appreciates that he is not being a jerk. He says that he is just doing his best. Later, Michael, Pearce and the rest of the team wait for Reed to come to them. Sam and Fiona talk to Sam’s police friend and he tells them that he can’t help them. Fiona tells Sam that she has had enough of this and gets in her car and leaves Sam by himself. Sam calls Michael who disguises the call as a call from his mother. Michael tells him that he is on his way. Michael tells Pearce that he will be back before Reed gets there.

Michael gets to the Loft and tells Fiona that she doesn’t have to do anything rash. She says that she is tired of him working for Anson and says that she is going to turn herself into the Feds so that Anson doesn’t win. Michael tells her that he can’t loose her like that and says that he will find a way to take care of things. To make sure that happens, Michael handcuffs her to the fence and says that he can’t loose her. She screams for him to let her go. Michael gets back to the mission and Anson calls. He says that he is watching him and asks about the SD card. He says that he hasn’t done it yet and Anson says that he will make sure that he does it or Fiona will be going to prison. Michael gets into the van and Pearce tells him that he cannot leave during a mission. He says that he understands. Michael inserts the SD card in and it downloads the files. He says that he is going to check on everything.

Michael sees that Rebecca is doing something odd and asks a team member what she is doing. He says that she has over pressurized bullets. Michael realizes that she wants to do something to sabotage the mission. He goes up to her car and gets the detonator. Rebecca reveals that she works with Anson and that she was instructed to take out Jesse and Reed to make sure that Michael was loyal. Pearce asks what is going on and Michael tells hr that Rebecca was sabotaging the mission. Michael says that he has a plan thought that will get them to get both Jesse and Reed. Michael tells the team to take aim at the car and to get them scared. They pull up and Jesse gets out with Reed. They walk to the plane and Michael sets off the detonator. The plane blows up and the team starts shooting the truck. Michael pulls up and tells Jesse and Reed to get in. They drive off and Reed realizes that Michael is not airport security. However, before he can say anything, Michael hits him. Michael tells Jesse that Rebecca was a plant and that Anson is going to go after Fiona.

Michael goes to the loft to find Sam handcuffed to the fence. He says that Fiona went to turn herself in to the Feds. He gets in his car and races to the federal building and Anson calls. Michael tells him that it is over and says that he will see him in hell. Michael continues to drive to the Federal building and sees Fiona walking up to the building. He shouts for her, but it is too late. She is met by agents who take him into custody. Michael reads the letter that Fiona wrote and it tells Michael that she loves him too much to allow for him to continue to be under Anson’s leash. He cries and the episode ends.
