After the boost from the CSI crossover last week, this week CSI is down in overall, down in 18-49

Ray has some pretty damned big feet, wearing a size 13½ shoe.

Greg's bowling ball carrier includes an embroidered seal which suggests that he went to Valley Ridge High School (does not actually exist in California), and was on their California state high school championship bowling team in 1992.

This is Devon Gummersall's second appearance on CSI, but the two appearances were as different characters.

Sara: Bag without a ball, head without a body. At least we know what we're looking for...

(Greg has just shown a relatively thorough knowledge of the machinery used to return the balls and set the pins in the bowling alley)
Nick: You sure do know a lot about bowling...
Greg: Mechanical Engineering class in college. We took a field trip to a bowling alley.
Nick: Every Saturday night, family league.
Greg: Yeah? You any good?
Nick: Well, not bad.

Nick: Too bad the only surveillance is at the register and front entrance, huh?
(Greg thinks about the machinery, looks, sees that there is a pin-spotting camera that looks near where the individual had to be)
Greg: I knew that field trip would come in handy...

Al: Ah, just in time for the head-topsy.

Nick: Bowling is a family sport. I would like to raise a glass to our CSI Family... Cheers!(everyone raises a glass in toast) But, unfortunately, it's time to give the family a little ass-whoopin'.
Ray: Be paying attention, Nick, be careful you don't let your mouth write a check that your ass can't cash.

Greg walks up a few minutes late with his bowling ball. Yet, during the toast a minute earlier, his voice can be clearly heard saying "Cheers".

Title: Lover's Lanes

The title is a twofold reference. One refers to a "Lover's lane", which is a generic term for any secluded location, or a location with a noteworthy view, where people kiss and make out. An example of such a "lane" could be a ridgetop that has an extraordinary view of the city, the ocean or a landscape. It is often a place where one drives to, but it can be a walking area, as well. It can also be a park with lots of benches in secluded alcoves for people to talk privately and make out in. The second reference is to bowling, which is where the crime is set. Another name for a bowling alley's single "alley" is a "lane", and many bowling alley names suggest that -- Thompson's Capri Lanes, Sawmill Lanes Bowling Center, and so forth. So Lover's Lanes is an intermixing of the two references.

Twitter is a social networking system which allows for very short text messages to be sent by a single author, mainly allowing sharing of thoughts when doing something. Sort of a "one-sided conversation by text messaging". It is popular in general but especially so in fan communities because the object of the fandom, if they "tweet", allows people into their lives by sharing what they are doing or thinking about, providing a connection to them which previously did not exist.

Criss Angel is a popular American illusionist/magician/escape artist, known for his showmanship, particularly through an A&E network TV series called Criss Angel Mindfreak

And, while this attribution is to Blues musician Bo Diddley, it probably predates him. Given Ray's prior demonstration of serious knowledge of Blues musicians (see "The Gone Dead Train" -- 9x22), he's likely to be freely plagiarizing.

I really don't buy this. They've been doing this a lot lately since William Petersen left, giving Brass lines which really don't fit his personality -- he's more the gruff, salt-of-the-earth type of guy, black and white, no nonsense, that sort of thing. In "Space Oddity" they have him talking about Derida as though he's read him cover to cover, despite the fact that Brass is the sort of guy who would sneer at everything Derida stands for. Gil Grissim would have read Derida for intellectual curiosity, even though he would disagree with him completely. Not Brass. Similarly, Twitter is a very popular but not particularly "deep" social network which Brass would consider narcissistic and a pointless waste of time.

If they want to introduce some of these "Grissim"-like plot points, they ought to have other people do it than Brass. It's like they are forcing lines into his mouth to give him air time. This interview should have been handled by Nick, or Catherine (Ray could do it but he's clearly not on this case). It would have fit in with their personalities better that they might use Twitter. Brass is the least likely regular cast member to find any appeal in Twitter.
