Episode Notes

This episode was originally entitled "Waisted".

Grissom's cell phone number is revealed to be 702- 555-0141. In North America, the 555 exchange was reserved for use in film, TV, and media and was never assigned to legitimate phone numbers. Given the crunch for numbers in the age of electronic devices (pagers, fax, cell phones, etc.), 555-0100 through 555-0199 are now specifically reserved for fictional use, and the rest have been released for use.

At the end of this episode it appears to be that Grissom and Sara spent the night together.

Episode Quotes

(about Brass' risky surgery)
Grissom: What are the odds?
Doctor: Mr. Grissom, this isn't a casino. I don't give odds.
Grissom: Do it.

Sindee Houston: Hey, I'm the victim here!
Catherine: Honey, you don't look dead.

Brass: The thing is, if something were to happen to me, I don't think Ellie would, uh ... care.

Warrick: You know, your father is out of surgery.
Ellie: Yeah, how's he doing?
Warrick: It's a little too early to tell, but I know when he wakes up, he'll be happy to see you.
Ellie: Think so?
Warrick: I know so. You look good.
Ellie: You mean I don't look like a crack-whore anymore?
Warrick: That's not what I meant, but no.

(In Grissom's bedroom)
Grissom: I dunno. Most people want to die in their sleep, I suppose ... and never know that it is happening. Like a crime scene: 'Surprise! You're dead!'. I'd prefer to know in advance that I was going to die. I'd like to be diagnosed with cancer, actually. Have some time to prepare. Go back to the rainforest one more time, re-read Moby Dick. Possibly enter an international chess tournament. At least have enough time to say goodbye to the people I love.
Sara: (as she enters the room from the bathroom) I'm not ready to say goodbye.

Cultural References

Bobby Dawson: Snap, crackle, pop.

"Snap, crackle, and pop" is the slogan for Kellogg's Rice Krispies brand cereal, is the onomatopoeia for the sound the cereal makes in milk, and is the trademarked name for their cereal box characters.
