Three months ago (in the pilot episode), Royce Harmon was murdered and his killer rigged the scene to make it appear as a suicide. Another murder has been committed, with similar evidence, and the killers' extensive knowledge of forensics has left Grissom and his crew bewildered. Meanwhile, Warrick and Nick deal with a case of a man who drove over a cliff in his car and is now unconscious.

Nick: Aww...want me to make you a bottle and go night-night?
Warrick: Aww....want me to clock your jaw and make you go night-night? | Brass: What kind of language is that? Swedish?
Grissom: It's backward. | Brass: Oh, you're gonna love this. Ring any bells? Rub-a-dub-dub, dead man in the tub. | Gil: Okay, we're going off the board, tonight.
Sara: Off the board?
Catherine: The ones that got away.
Sara: Ah. I missed that one. | Al: He was paid a little visit from Mr. Muzzle Stamp. | Mandy Webster: Catherine, would you excuse us for a second? I need to speak with Mr. Grissom in private.
Gil: Anything you say to me, you can say to her. | Gil: Maybe we could get a 'Kodak moment' of this guy. | Jim: (to Gil) Dr. Livingston. Your dead man's making cash withdrawals. |

Brass: You tell me, Carnac.
Brass is refering to Carnac the Magnificent, a long-lasting, regular comic bit on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, which parodied swamis and claims of psychic powers. | Brass: Quincy wants to be alone.
In the show Quincy, M.E., medial examiner Dr. Quincy, played by Jack Klugman, worked to solve murder cases, much like Grissom. |
