A plane has crashed in the middle of the everglades and CSI must figure out what happened, though what makes the scene odd is the fact that the body of the victim is a few miles away from where the plane crashed. However, with only one witness, it’s going to be a challenge to figure out what really happened.

But the case takes a turn of events when the daughter of the schoolmaster had a hand in the death and the victim and a chemistry teacher were having an affair.

The CSI’s investigate a murder which occurred in a crowded bar. They learn that another woman had by approached the deceased woman in an attempt to set her up with a man as a pick-up service for men. Delko must locate his badge, which was used during a crime and before it is used again. Delko has to admit that he lost it during an irresponsible act the night before.

After a young man confesses to murder and could fall victim to the county jail system, Horatio and the team must uncover the truth.

Despite Tripp securing a written confession from Tobey Hollins who admits to committing murder, the evidence tells Horatio that Tobey is innocent. As Horatio races to prove his innocence, Tobey waits for his arraignment in prison and ends up killing another inmate in alleged self-defense. Now, the pressure is on for the CSIs to find out the true culprit in both cases before the system swallows up Tobey for the rest of his life.

The victim was taking lessons from seasoned pros on how to score women in the competitive Miami nightlife, and was nearly successful before he was killed. The CSI’s, left only with a club full of likely suspects and a murder weapon wiped clean, must find the killer amongst the treacherous backdrop of Miami's sexual nightlife. Meanwhile, Eric's sister, Marisol, is arrested for buying a large amount of marijuana, and Horatio, learning that she bought the drugs to help her and her fellow cancer sufferers, must find a way to help her avoid jail time.

Afterwards, Eric continues being jealous of the new relationship between Calleigh and Jake Berkeley and Horatio faces emotional moments with his son.

One of the models at a fashion show is killed by electrocution while walking down the runway and Horatio believes the killer was sending a message to them. When Ryan and Calleigh check out the wires below the runway, they uncover that each of the models had their own personalized lighting, and that a small fire made the evidence burn and disappear. Meanwhile, evidence that is found at the scene leads Horatio to a prisoner who, appearently, was the dead model's husband. Horatio also visits his son in prison, who is having a hard time in there.

Meanwhile, the CSI's get their first suspect and the man of the family want to get revenge on him. However, Horatio isn't sure that the suspect did it and must therefore make sure the family man doesn't get an opportunity to kill him.

While investigating a young woman's death in her apartment, Ryan and Alexx try out a new technique for recovering prints off the victim before moving her. However, a fire breaks out in the apartment, which spreads over to the victim. Ryan tries to find a fire extinguisher, but finds a meth lab in the apartment instead. Ryan believes it was his tent (for the technique) that started the fire, but Calleigh, Eric and Natalia find out that the fire was a ticking time-bomb because the electricity in the room wasn't able to turn itself off, leading to a fire.

When a couple is disturbed by the loud noise of a wood chipper at 08:00 in the morning, the man in the relationship takes a video camera down to the street to record his complaints about the noise. However, when blood comes shooting out of the chipper, the man becomes the witness of a murder. He tells the CSI’s that the gardener was the person who fell into the machine, but when the gardener walks into the crime scene just seconds later, the team realizes that they are dealing with an unknown individual. Meanwhile, Horatio faces off against an old enemy whom he thought was dead, Ron Saris, and apparently, he has put Julia’s life in jeopardy.
