CSI: Miami: Golden Parachute

A plane has crashed in the middle of the everglades and CSI must figure out what happened, though what makes the scene odd is the fact that the body of the victim is a few miles away from where the plane crashed. However, with only one witness, it’s going to be a challenge to figure out what really happened.

Episode Quotes
Megan: Nice thing about hair, it grows at an even rate, about a half an inch a month.
Speed: Gives us a nice time line.
Megan: Yeah, she'd been using antidepressants for the past year, Prozac and Zoloft, six months ago she smoked some pot.
Speed: And they say blonds have more fun.

NTSB guy: Oh I heard of you you're the uh bullet girl right?
Calleigh: And what does that make you air plane boy?

Calleigh: Is it as bad as it looks?
Horatio: It's actually worse than it looks.

Horatio: Calleigh, the bullet?
Calleigh: There was no bullet.
Horatio: Well how did the pilot get shot?
Calleigh: He didn't.
(the scene cuts to a close up of a rivet being loosened; the pressure forces it through into the cockpit and hits the pilot)
Horatio: A rivet runs through it.

Tigerfish: What the hell is this?
Speedle: That's a warrant to search the premises.
Tigerfish: For what?
Speedle: For items looted from an air-crash site. What'd you think, you were going to sell them on e-bay?

Delko: What does she think? She can waltz in here after six months of being gone and just take over?
Speedle: You know ... you're an ass.
Delko: What did I say?
Speedle: She lost her husband. What did they give her -- two weeks off? She needed a little bit of time. Big deal.
Delko: Man, I didn't know.
Speedle: Yeah, well, there's a lot you don't know.

Episode Goofs
In the scene where a man is pulled out of the swamp, they assume he's still alive but fail to check for vital signs before performing CPR. It is common knowledge that pulse and other signs must be checked for prior to performing mouth-to-mouth or CPR.

Despite Horatio and Megan discussing safe practices when dealing with biohazards during the beginning of the episode, the orders they give are not used -- no one wears the gear they order everyone to wear except for Alexx even though they are all around bodies from the crash and exposed to several biohazards.

Cultural References
This episode was based on an airline crash that occurred in the Florida Everglades on May 11, 1996.

Horatio: A rivet runs through it.

Horatio is referring to the short story "A River Runs Through It" by Norman Maclean.
