Richard 'Fitz' Fitzpatrick, played by Jason Priestley

Richard Fitz is a handsome, thirty-eight year-old scumbag who got half way through an MBA before dropping out to keep the campus pub in business. This guy coulda been somebody. And on the car lot, he is. Amongst the hapless part-time employees, the mechanic school drop outs, their manager Richard's a God (at least in his own mind). As it stands, Richard is a flawed dictator at best, lacking the essential moral core that makes any leader truly great. Richard thinks nothing of offending his Pashtun competitors, screwing the receptionist, making outrageous promises to customers he can't possibly fulfill. Yet he gets away with it, 'cuz he's funny. And charming. And salesman of the year nine times in a row. Women love him - and Fitzie loves all women - despite his drinking and drug problem and Richard takes advantage of this - and anything else - any way he possibly can. That is, until his nemesis Larry appears on the scene. After Larry secures a piece of the family business for himself, Richard devotes himself to uncovering Larry's real identity once and for all, and in the process, getting closer to a little thing called self-awareness. Sort of. Richard, in all his nasty glory, is an infinitely relatable, entirely lovable anti-hero. There's a little Richard in all of us - whether or not we admit to it, is another matter entirely.

  Larry, played by Ernie Grunwald

Larry is Richard's so-called conscience, the last undamaged corner of Richard's blackened, booze-soaked soul. He's come into Richard's life to help get him back on track - if that's at all possible. Physically, he couldn't be any more different than Richard. He's a foot taller, peppy, and charmingly asexual. He's totally out of place in the pre-owned automobile universe - and yet, Larry's brand of honesty first seems to be kicking Richard's butt in the sales department. It's quite possible that Larry is an insane stalker, some freak who has latched onto Richard for his own crazed mission of mercy. Either way, throughout the life of the series, we soon realize that Larry needs Richard as much as Richard needs Larry. We will see Larry grow from Richard's shadow to his own, fully realized being, so much so that he may even try to disassociate himself from Richard. This may be tricky, given the fact that Richard eventually will become entirely, woefully dependent on his new sidekick. The dynamic between Richard and Larry is ever-changing, and utterly unpredictable, as all complicated friendships are. The fireworks between these two men - Larry's essential goodness in perpetual clash with Richard's fabulously bad choices - will keep this character constantly on his toes and having to reconcile the long, rocky path that he's taken for himself time and time again.

Ken Fitzpatrick, played by Peter MacNeill

Richard's Father Ken Fitz is Richard full-blown, what Richard's gonna' be if he doesn't get his act together: a miserable grouch whose only real relationship is with his porn collection. Ken has gambled away his share of the car lot a few times in the past and now that he's reaching retirement age, the job's become a habit he can't quite kick. Recently, he's questioning his mortality, the notion of death, illness, and using said ailments as an excuse to screw the system: research shows that sales people in wheelchairs make 5% higher commissions. Ken's main purpose at the dealership is to drink Scotch and harass his only Son for running 'his' business into the ground. Ken is the malignant figurehead of his dysfunctional family, and you'd think his children would try to distance themselves. But each know they have more to squeeze from the old man before he's led out to pasture. Richard needs his power at the car lot (and secretly his approval) and Megan wants his money - the only thing that will give her freedom from a loveless marriage (and pay for that tummy tuck she's considering.) In turn, Ken basks in the tattered power he wields, and makes sure his kids remain subservient and needy. In many ways, Ken, is like a fungus. A chronic, doomed-to-live-forever, soul-eating fungus.

Ali Devon, played by Kathleen Munroe

Ali Devon is Babs' daughter, the beautiful, moral and emotionally evolved lawyer whom Richard falls for in a major way. Ali thinks Richard is a bottom-feeding, despicable cretin, who apparently has no conscience about his role in her mother's accident. Her resolve to kick Richard's ass in court is unwavering, and any attempt on his part to change her mind is met with more moxie and ridicule. When it comes to this unattainable woman, Richard's determination runs deep. Ali is his prize, the light at the end of his dark and twisted transformational journey. Seems like a long shot... until Ali finds herself having sex dreams about Richard and finds she has her own demon to reckon with. How can she be attracted to this bad boy? Will she risk her own career, her own sanity for this a man addicted to vintage Korean porn?

Sonja Lester, played by Brooke Nevin

Sonja Lester answers the phones at the dealership. A young, naïve hottie, she believed her affair with Richard was based on love and mutual respect - that is until Larry shows up and enlightens her - it was about the blowjobs. This hard truth ignites a new fire in Sonja - ambition. She needs coin to, one day, go to University and so, despite the bad taste Richard has left in her mouth, she stays on at Fitzpatrick Motors.

Sonja will eventually blossom from sexy girl at the phones to a smart and savvy saleswoman with an incredible business mind and ideas about how to take Fitzpatrick Motors into the new age of internet car sales. She is the girl we will root for, the young woman who gets closer to finding her inner Fight Club, each and every single day.

  Meghan, played by Tracy Dawson

Richard's shrewish younger sister Meghan Fitzpatrick works hard to overcome the Fitz family stigma - and sometimes even succeeds. Seems like she has it all, but the fact is, Meghan is bored stiff with her life and wishes her husband would disappear. That is, until he actually does disappear - as in, asks for a divorce. This unexpected event messes with Meghan's A-type mind and makes her more of a meddlesome pain-in-the-ass than before. She shows up on the lot to angle for favor with their father, thwarts Richard's plans to rid himself of Larry at every turn, but primarily, is trying to get laid. When Meghan's not making a pain of herself on the lot, we get to see the bitch-on-wheels in the glory of her own home, even tracking her feeble attempts to woo a competitor dealer, as Richard leases a unit in her upscale duplex (he is five months behind in rent).

Josh McTaggert, played by Donavon Stinson

Josh McTaggart is the bearded slacker, who technically works in auto parts - but can usually be found sitting on in his garage 'lounge' with his bong. Ex-Militia (or so he says) Josh knows everything about everything (especially cars, drugs and being in the shit in Guam) and it's obvious he could be capable of great things, if a) he wasn't so un-ambitious and b) didn't spend most of his time acting as Richard's defacto manservant, providing his boss (at any time of day or night) with an assortm
