Two men from different worlds are drawn together when a suicide bombing claims the lives of their daughters. One is Joseph Adams, a lawyer from the poor Tauron colony who hides his ethnic background in a racially tense environment and also lost his wife to the terrorist attack, leaving him to raise his young son alone. The other is Daniel Graystone, a rich and brilliant scientist native to the industrious planet Caprica who discovers that his daughter's consciousness lives on in an online avatar she made before her death. Initially united in grief, the two maybe driven apart by how far Graystone goes to return his daughter to the world.

The Graystones deal with the repercussions of Amanda's claims, including doing publicity as a talk show host uses their poor image as a punchline every night.

With hopes that Lacy will pick up her deceased counterpart's plan, Zoe recovers her avatar, as well as that of Tamara whose father desperately wants to see her again.

Meanwhile, Sister Clarice continues in her attempts to get closer to Lacy, as the Caprican government stumbles across a misplaced piece of their investigation.

Meanwhile, the GDD begin raids and searches for evidence linked to the Soldiers of the One, as Lacy tries to get Keon to help her make Zoe's delivery to Gemenon.

Tamara seeks help in the V-Club to return to the real world, but only on the condition that she use her inability to derez to help play an intricate and dangerous game. In the real world, Joseph finds out that he has lost control of young William and that the only way to return as a father he must finally put his wife and daughter to rest.

Daniel learns that Graystone Industries is ready to drop him over his decision to forfeit profits on the holoband. In order to keep a stronghold on his company, he introduces a promising technological breakthrough: the Cylon.

Company rival Tomas Vergis confronts Daniel over the theft of the meta-cognitive processor and the two workers who were murdered in the robbery. However, his means of revenge aren't quite what Daniel expects.

Keon takes Lacy to meet Barnabas Greeley, leader of the Soldiers of the One. Troubled over the work he's been doing with the STO, Clarice hopes to gain attention by presenting the Zoe avatar and sets course by taking it directly from Daniel's lab.

Joseph dives into New Cap City to find Tamara, as Zoe continues to court Philo to help get her robotic body off-world, but may wind up helping Daniel who is still being hounded by Vergis to sell the Buccaneers.

Certain that the avatar of his daughter remains in the U-87, Daniel puts it through several psychological tests to coax her to reveal herself to him, unaware that he is pushing Zoe to limits she may not be able to pull herself back from.

In the V-world, Joseph continues his hunt for his own daughter, discovering that Tamara has become something he doesn't understand.

The Caprican government puts pressure on Daniel to mass produce the Cylons by setting the deadline from a month to just a week. For this to happen, the MCP must be reset, which will effectively destroy the Zoe avatar's existence. This pushes her to make her escape much sooner than she intended, but when Lacy's own trouble keeps her from helping, a desperate situation calls her to take desperate actions.

Meanwhile, Joseph has become so consumed by his quest to find Tamara in the V-world that a close friend has to step in to bring his search to an end.

Amanda has difficulty in earning the trust of the Willow family.

Daniel continues perfecting Amanda's avatar, unaware that he's been given even shorter time by the Guatrau whom he discovered has been shipping Cylons to STO on Gemenon.

Meanwhile, Zoe and Tamara have gained a reputation in New Cap City so immense, that it has spilled out into the real world.

Clarice's plan for apotheosis is threatened as Duram continues to employ Amanda under the GDD's radar.

On Gemenon, Lacy discovers that the U-87 robots respond to her commands.
