The scene opens with a woman walking and suddenly a man follows her. Martha and Castle talk to Alexis about her secret admirer and she tells that she is going to figure it out and pinpoint who the secret admirer is. Castle tells her to not and wait to be surprised. She agrees with him. Castle gets a call and it is another murder. Linda Russo, a cable company worker, is found murdered and Castle sees something familiar. He tells that it looks like the M.O. from a killer 4 years ago. Beckett talks to Mrs. Russo and she tells that she doesn’t know who would have wanted to kill her daughter, but tells that a man was following her a couple of times and that he was working as a person who waters plants. Beckett gets a 911 text from Lanie. She tells that the same rope marks that were found on Linda Russo, were the same ones found on all the women involved in the homicide of other women 4 years ago. The Triple Killer is back and he is killing.

Captain Montgomery briefs the staff and tells them that they are looking for a killer that killed six people 4 years ago and that he is coming out of hiding. Det. Ryan tells Beckett that the guy stalking Linda was Paul McCardle. He tells that he quit last month. Beckett and Castle meet with a very sweaty Mr. McCardle, to which he says that he has a medical condition. He tells that he was bowling all night at the time of the murders. He tells that he was following her, but tells that a security guard told him to move on. Esposito tells that Paul’s alibi checks out and Montgomery comes up and tells that they have a second victim. They go to Kim Foster’s home and neighbors say that a gas man was leaving. Castle notices that the pillows are not arranged perfectly and tells that there was a struggle. They look in the cushions and Beckett finds a name tag with Vince written on it. At the station, Cal Townsend comes in and tells that he and his wife are split up and tells that reporters keep coming to his door and he asks if the killer that killed his daughter is back or not. Captain Montgomery tells that they have a lead and tells that he will let him know when they make the arrest.
Castle is wondering why the killer didn’t stick to his original M.O. and Beckett tells that the transcripts on the hot-line shows that Linda Russo called in a suspicion after telling that there was a man dressed like a cable man, but didn’t have the right tools. This is why Linda Russo was special and that would explain why she was attacked. Marcus Gates is the print match and Beckett tells that he was in prison for countless of things and was released last month. Castle arrives home to find Alexis admiring a rose that her secret admirer sent and she tells that the note said that if she liked the rose, to have her wear it. Castle tells her not to do it and tells that she doesn’t know if there are going to be repercussions to this. Castle goes into the station and Beckett tells that Marcus had a cellmate named Jerry Tyson. They go to meet with Jerry and he tells that he is not going to tell them anything because he tells that Marcus has reach even in prison, but Beckett tells him that she has all day and it is going to look like he was talking for a long time anyway to the cops. Jerry tells that Marcus liked to hang out at a bar.

The team assembles there and Marcus comes out. They tell him to get on the ground and Castle gets into it too much. At the station, Castle is narrating the character of Marcus in an author type of speech. Capt. Montgomery tells that they are going to have to get Marcus to run his mouth and they are searching his home. Beckett starts to interview Marcus and he is very calm with everything she is asking she shows pictures of the victims and he denies knowing any of them. Behind the glass, Montgomery tells Castle that Beckett needs to make sure that Marcus doesn’t lawyer up and that it is near to impossible that he wound not. She tells Marcus that they are searching his home and he tells that he will wait until they can prove it with a warrant. Montgomery tells Bennett to show the warrant and try to make him stick around. However, Bennett makes Marcus want to leave and she tells that he can leave but just tell where he was during the murder. He tells that he was home.
They look on the surveillance cameras and it shows him going in. Beckett doesn’t want to believe it, but Montgomery tells that they have to let him go. Marcus walks out smugly and tells the staff to watch out for their loved ones since there is a killer on the loose. Back at Castle’s home, Alexis tells that she is going to meet her secret admirer and Castle thinks that is a bad idea. Martha reassures that everything will be fine. Bennett calls Castle and tells that she has to go visit Jerry again and get him to talk. At the prison, Jerry finally rolls on Marcus and makes a deal. They get him out of prison and Ryan sits with Jerry and he asks why they can’t arrest Marcus already. Jerry mentions that Marcus used partners sometimes. They take a look back at the surveillance video and find out that he did not walk into the building, but find out that Paul McCardle is the partner. Montgomery tells that Marcus is gone as well. They track down Donna, Jerry’s girlfriend, and Beckett tells Esposito to go to her quickly. Inside he finds Marcus trying to kill Donna. Esposito asks how he is going to get out of this one.
At the station, Beckett tells that they found the same rope as the killer and he tells that it is not a crime to carry rope. Bennett asks for some more leverage and they find out that Paul is in the hospital. Castle and Ryan go to the hospital and find out that he has just had heart surgery and that he is not going to be conscious. They call to Beckett and she has her leverage. She goes in the interrogation room and tells that they are going to charge Paul with accessory to a crime. He tells that he will confess if they give Paul immunity. He records his voice while Cal Townsend watches. Later, Castle and Ryan go to where Jerry is staying and they tell the news. Castle picks up on something and before Ryan could react, he is hit unconscious. Jerry grabs the gun and ties up Castle. Back at the station, Beckett gets ready to leave and Montgomery tells that he is going out.

Back with Castle and Jerry, Castle tells that Jerry kills blonds because his own mother was and that there were possible memories that you never wanted to handle. Jerry reads Castle too and asks how close he wants to come to death. Castle’s phone rings and it is Martha. She tells that the secret admirer was really Ashley, Alexis’s boyfriend. Castle says I love you and Jerry tells that it is time to say goodbye. Jerry leaves and Beckett arrives barely missing him. She runs upstairs to find Castle alive. She asks why he was kept alive and he tells that it was for punishment because he has to live with the fact that he couldn’t catch him. She tells that she feels the same way.
