The scene opens with a guard inspecting a car and finds a woman dead. Castle is doing a crossword in pen and Martha tells that he is brave. Alexis comes in and Castle tries to get her attention, buy Martha tells that she is talking to Ashley. Alexis gets off the phone and tells that Ashley’s parents want to meet Castle for dinner. Castle and Beckett meet for the case and Castle tells of his dilemma of needing to meet with Ashley’s parents. Beckett tells that he needs to tread lightly. They get to the crime scene and find Marie Subbarao, an astrophysicist who Castle thinks that has been abducted by aliens after Marie is diagnosed by Lanii that she died of explosive decompression. In other words, she died from being in outer space without a suit. Castle’s theory is starting to get bigger, but Beckett tells that there is always an explanation for it. Esposito tells that a cigarette bud was found by the car tire and will offer some sort of an explanation as to what or who killed Marie. At the station, Castle is still thinking that it is alien abduction. They find out that Marie was last leaving her work place and they go in to investigate.

Castle and Beckett visit with Marie’s assistant, Ayyana Holder and Marie’s boss, Chuck Vaughn. Ayyana tells that Marie said that something “life changing” and that she wasn’t herself. When Castle asks about the decompression issue and what could have done that, Chuck tells that they have a decompression chamber to get people used to being in space. Beckett asks if anyone wanted to harm Marie and Ayyana tells that Marie was having issues with her ex-lab partner, Ted Carter. At the station, Ryan and Esposito meet with Ted Carter and he tells that he didn’t know about Marie. They tells of their suspicions and Ted tells that he got home around 9PM and stayed in. Castle shows that Marie had a life altering experience and that it is possible that she was abducted. Beckett and Castle are interrupted by Esposito that the Decompression Center at the lab came up clean. This only heightens Castle’s curiosity. Castel and Beckett are called into Lannii’s examination room and she tells that she found something in her body. It is a tube of some sort. Castle tells that it looks like the tracking capsule that is in the book that Marie was reading.

Later at the house, Alexis tells that Ashley’s parents want to have dinner along with Castle and Martha. He tells that it is no problem and hopes that he doesn’t embarrass Alexis. Castle goes back to the station and asks Beckett tells that the tube must be a piece of the chamber. Ted’s alibi checks out and Espositio walks up and tells that Marie made a phone call to Benny Striker, the author of the UFO book. Beckett can’t make the connection between the two until Esposito tells that they worked together a while back until Marie got him fired from the project when he started talking about the UFO stuff. They visit him at a meeting of other “believers” and Beckett shows her badge. He tells that he was at a book signing and Benny tells that Marie called him because she picked up on traffic using a radio telescope and that she was finding that she was missing time. Benny tells that the government was trying to stop Marie and they finally did. Beckett and Castle go to Marie’s work again and this time all of the furniture is gone from Marie’s office. Ayyana tells that some men from the government told her that they had to take all of it. Beckett is beginning to think that there might be a cover-up.

They go back to the station and wonder if Marie was working on something secret. Esposito tells that he searched the other Decompression Chamber and it is clean too. The only other thing is a vacuum sealer. She tells him to locate them. Esposito is not happy and tells Castle to hurry up and prove it is aliens. They get news that Marie got off at the Jersey Turnpike and Castle finds out that there is an observatory there. They go to the observatory and they find out that Marie was looking at a regular telescope and that she deleted the data. As they drive back, the car breaks down. Their cell phones and watches stop working. Suddenly, there is a bright light about them. Castle wakes up in a room and there is a man asking if he has it. Beckett is in another room and she tells that she is a NYPD detective. They tell that they are out of her league. Beckett asks who killed Marie and Castle makes light of the situation and start to talk about every conspiracy. They inject them with something and Castle and Beckett wake up and she is confused. They go back to the station and Captain Montgomery is upset that they were interrogated by Agents of some unknown agency. Ryan tells that the agents were monitoring them with bugs and Beckett tells that they need to find what the agents were looking for first. Beckett remembers that Ted received some things from Marie.

Ted comes by the station and shows that it was only a few of his things. A CD drops out and it is unmarked. Beckett puts it in her computer and it is footage of what Marie saw. It is something that looks like a UFO. Castle makes a show of it and Ryan and Esposito are shown the mysterious object. Beckett talks to the bugs that the agents set and tells that she has what the want. They call immediately and the head guy, Agent Westfield, comes into the station. Beckett tells that they have something and shows the pictures from the CD. He is not interested. He tries to leave and Beckett demands to know what is going on. He comes clean and tells that it is a satellite that Marie saw and that they fear that she sold it to the Chinese and that is who killed her. Meanwhile, Castle meets with Ashley’s parents and they start the small talk. Castle calls Beckett when announcing that being out of character is what he studies for his book. He tells that Marie was out of character and that if she was a Spy, she would have not done that. Beckett tells that Marie had Sodium in her system. The whole time, Ashley’s parents look at him strange.

They go to the observatory and realize that the signatures don’t match. Marie was only intercepting the signals and Dr. Vaughn drugged her to find out how much she knew. Esposito calls and tells that Dr. Vaughn is gone. Beckett calls up Agent Westfield and he comes and tells that the Chinese owns Dr. Vaughn and they find him in Chinatown. They get Ung Ku is the murder suspect. They arrive and Castle tells that they probably have cyanide pills to use before getting caught. They enter and Beckett sees workers. Castle tells that Beckett will shoot in Chinese and he tells that he learned it from a tv show. They find Dr. Vaughn and Ung in the middle of the alley and Ung is about to kill Dr. Vaughn. Both men are taken into custody and Castle sees Ung’s mouth move and thinks it is cyanide pills. Agent Westfield says that this never happened. Outside both men will spend the rest of their lives in prison. Castle gets a call from Alexis and tells that Ashley’s parents found him fascinating and tells that they are going camping. Beckett doesn’t tell Castle what Agent Westfield told her, but that doesn’t stop him from guessing.
