<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The scene opens with Castle coming in and tells Esposito and Ryan that he made a graphic novel. Derek Storm is the character. He asks where Beckett is and they tell him that she is talking to Lockwood at the prison. Meanwhile at the prison, Beckett waits to see Lockwood and Officer Ryker is told that he was moved into General Population. She tells that there is an inmate in General Population that Lockwood is going to kill. At the same moment Lockwood is going to McAlister’s cell. He tells him to make it quick. Beckett and a team of prison SWAT team members get to the cell of McAlister but they are too late. Back at the station, Castle says that he is sorry that Lockwood is killing the only people that know about her mother’s death. She says that Lockwood was giving her a new target to look at. She tells Esposito and Ryan to run financials on all the prison staff. She and Castle are going to Lockwood’s arraignment to see if they can draw out the person pulling the strings of the entire thing.

They arrive at the courthouse and Beckett walks up to Lockwood and tells him that she is going to find out everything. Lockwood says that she can’t hide from the man who hired him. Three officers enter and Beckett sees that they are not real police officers, but it is too late. A gas canister goes off and the officers get Lockwood out of the courtroom. Beckett tries to chase them, but they get into a helicopter and fly away. Castle gets to the station and asks how Beckett is doing. Beckett tries to get information, but nothing. Until Ryan says that there is a recording of Lockwood talking in code. Esposito says that it means “continue mission”. Lockwood was after someone else and Castle says that there is a 3rd cop that Lockwood wants. Montgomery tells Ryan and Esposito to put a detail on Beckett and tells them to kill Lockwood if they get the chance. Beckett gets a call that tells that they found the helicopter. They get to the hanger and Beckett wants to know why now. Beckett tries to go over the details and is a little lost. Castle asks if she is alright and she says that she is. Castle goes home and Jim Beckett comes over. He says that Beckett won’t listen to anyone besides him to convince her to drop the case.

The next day at the office, Ryan tells that Ryker is the Correctional Officer that received a $50,000 wire transfer to his account. They get to his house and Ryker is dead. Lannii tells that he died last night. Beckett wants to know if Ryker had any friends. They talk to Officer Hascal and he says that Ryker was an outstanding officer and nothing indicates something new. Castle says that the people knew that they needed someone to run financials. Beckett realizes that the 3rd cop is the one holding Lockwood’s leash. Beckett yells at Ryan and Esposito to check the reports again. Castle looks at one report and sees that the ink on the typewriter is different then the rest. He says that someone removed the original name and typed in a new name. Castle tells Montgomery to take Beckett off the case, but he says that she can’t stop her, but Castle can. He goes over to Beckett’s and tells that there was a 3rd cop and that they removed their name. She asks what Castle is doing there and he tells that they are coming for her next. He tries to convince her and tells her to walk away and she needs to think about the people who love you. Castle tells that he doesn’t what they are because they kiss and never talk about it. She tells that she has been running around a kid for three years. Castle tells that she could be happy, but she is afraid. She tells that they are over and tells him to get out.

Castle goes home and throws a glass at a poster of his new book. Martha talks to Castle and tells that Beckett knows what she is into. Castle tells that he doesn’t want anything to happen to her. She tells him not to waste another minute of it. Beckett goes into the station and says that she wants Castle gone. Montgomery says that he is then. He tells Beckett that she wasn’t having any fun until Castle came into the station. He says that she doesn’t have to get herself killed in this. He says that if this is her spot, then he will stand with her. Meanwhile, Ryan and Esposito are still trying to figure out the case and find that Mike Yanavich worked in records and now is residing in Florida. Later that night, Montgomery gets home to find Lockwood there. He says that they want him to take off the security detail that he has on her and then he is going to tell her to go to the same hanger they were at before. Otherwise, he is going to go upstairs and kill his family. Lockwood says that if Raglan, McAlister and he haven’t sinned so miraculously, then God wouldn’t have sent a punishment like himself.

The next day, Montgomery sends his family off to school and work and kisses his wife goodbye. He packs up forms and loads a gun with bullets. At the station, Ryan tells Esposito that Mike Yanavich didn’t live in Florida long and moved back to Brooklyn and bought a bar. Beckett gets a call from Montgomery telling her that he thinks that they have a lead. Ryan and Esposito go to the bar and ask Yanavich about the records. He says that the three cops that was involved in that and shows a picture of the three of them. The 3rd cop is Montgomery. Esposito rips up the picture and walks out. Esposito refuses to believe it and Ryan and him fight in the alley. Ryan tells him to back off and they get to their senses and think of Beckett. Meanwhile, Beckett gets a text saying that Montgomery is the 3rd cop. He comes out with a gun and tells her that he only had her come to draw them out. She tells him to give her a name, but he tells that he can’t do that. He tells Castle to take Beckett out of there. He grabs her and takes her out.

Lockwood comes up and he asks where Beckett is. Montgomery tells that he already put out the files to end him and the one pulling the strings. He shoots the other men with Lockwood, but Lockwood shoots Montgomery. He says that Lockwood is done and shoots him. Beckett runs back in and finds everyone dead. She tells Ryan and Esposito that they are keeping Montgomery’s name in tact and that they are the only ones that are going to know the truth. They bury Montgomery and during the eulogy that Beckett gives, Castle sees a flash. Suddenly there is a shot and Castle reaches for Beckett, but it is too late. Beckett has been shot. Castle tells that she can’t die because he loves her. Beckett closes her eyes and the episode ends.
