The scene opens with a man walking around with a camera. He says that he can see it and screams. Meanwhile, Alexis and Castle are watching a scary movie. She tells that she has to Skype with Ashley. Castle says that she shouldn’t rearrange her schedule to accommodate Ashley. He says that she shouldn’t drop everything for him. Castle’s phone rings. It is Beckett and like always, Castle drops everything for her. Castle tells Beckett that he thinks that Alexis is losing the control in their relationship. Beckett says that he needs to give her a little slack. Castle sees that “Ghost Wranglers”, a paranormal TV show, is there. Beckett says that the creator of the show, Jackson Claire, is the victim. Beckett and Castle talk to the owner of the McClaren home, a haunted house, and he says that he is not going to be able to sell the house now after what happened.

They get inside and Lanie says that the body was severed in several different places and that the blood splatter isn’t normal for a murder and it is like the blood went through the killer. Castle is intrigued. They ask who found the body and they talk to the producer. She says that Jack went in the house and went into lockdown. They watch the video feed and see that all the cameras went out at once. Beckett asks if there were anyone who was upset with Jack and she says that Barry, Jack’s camera man, was angry with Jack. Esposito and Ryan are working to find any information on Barry and Esposito asks if he and Ryan are still on for dinner and Ryan says that Jenny is excited to meet with Lanie. Esposito tells Ryan that Lanie might be a little cranky coming off a double shift. Esposito gets a hit on Barry’s credit card and they bring him in.
Castle and Beckett talk to Barry and he says that he was upset and says that he had a fight, but says that he made sure that it was going to be the last one he had a fight. They asks him to explain further and he says that he was told that he wasn’t going to be able to go in the lockout and set up the camera, but that is it. He says that he was at a strip club because he missed his flight to Los Angeles. Beckett says that Barry’s alibi checks out and Castle brings up that it might be ghosts. Beckett says that Jackson was upset and they need to find more about Jackson’s life. Ryan says that there is something that they need to see and shows Becket and Castle that the tripod moves. Castle is still at the station in the morning and says that the McClaren has a history and says that it seems that all the killings were from a demon. Esposito says that the cabby picked up Jack at a location and goes out to find where they went. Ryan says that an old high school friend of Jackson told him that Jackson lived near the McClaren house and avoided it. Ryan goes with Castle to find the ghost.
Later, Esposito goes up to Beckett and tells her that they have a live person’s fingerprint at the scene of the crime. Ron Berger is the person and says that he got out of prison 5 weeks ago. They bring him in after they read a note that Ron wrote to Jackson and the crew of the show after they did a piece that made Ron the laughing stock. He says that he didn’t kill Jackson and says that Jackson wanted photos taken inside the home first. He shows them the photos and they are all of the living room. Meanwhile, Ryan and Castle meet with Mr. and Mrs. Boyer, previous owners, and they tell that Mercy Le Grand was the Ghost Hunter who looked at the McClaren home and told them to run. Beckett and Castle meet with Mercy and she tells that Jackson remembered a woman getting murdered in the McClaren home and says that he was there years ago and saw the whole thing except the face of the killer.

At the station, Esposito shows that Melanie Benton was the woman murdered and that Jackson must have had a paper route and saw the face of the killer. However, he never could remember it and that he was close to identifying him until he was killed himself as well. Beckett asks who the Officer who was on the case and talks to Detective Smith. He says that Matt Benton was the one who killed his wife, but there wasn’t any proof on it. Smith says that he last heard that Benton was in Europe claiming that he didn’t kill his wife and that a Demon did it. Esposito comes up and says that Jackson went to a lawyer named Pete Benton, Matt’s brother. They get to his office and he tells that he never talked to Jackson Claire and says that he hasn’t spoken to Matt. Ryan says that Pete drove to the airport and picked up a passenger coming in.
Later that night, Castle is reading about he McClaren home and Martha tells him that he is not going to get all that reading done. Alexis comes down in a nice dress and tells them that she is not waiting for Ashley anymore and is going out. As soon as she leaves, Ashley calls. Martha says that it is like Ashley is listening in on them. Castle gets an idea and goes over to Beckett’s. He says that there is a hidden alcove in the McClaren home. Castle says that they need to go now and Castle teases Beckett that she is scared. Castle tells her to say it and she says, “I ain’t afraid of no ghosts”. They get to the house and Beckett teases Castle about seeing a ghost. The lights flicker and turn off. Beckett feels a breeze and has Castle give her a boost inside. Meanwhile, Lani and Jenny are hitting it off until Jenny asks Esposito and Lanie when they’re going to get married. Back at the McClaren home, Beckett and Castle find a cupboard and a Magnetic Field Generator and that would explain everything. They hear something in the cupboard, but it is only a rat. Castle is relived, but when the other side of the cupboard, a skeleton of a human falls out. Lanie verifies that it is Matt Benton.
Ryan and Esposito look around the alcove and Esposito tells Ryan that he and Lanie are going to take a break for a while from one another. Meanwhile, Castle and Beckett talk to Pete again and he swears that he never saw his brother and that he was doing something else during the murder of Jake. They start to look at other people who could have been the killer and they go to the conclusion of the owner being the killer because he would be the only one who would know about the alcove. However, Beckett says that they don’t have any proof that the owner is involved. They plan to set up a sting and tell him that they are going into the alcove tomorrow. That night, Castle and Beckett watch as Detective Smith comes in and takes the body of Matt Benton. They confront him about it and he confesses to killing him and Melanie. He then tells them that he has to kill them. However, Beckett tells him that they video tapped the conversation and confession. The team moves in and arrests Detective Smith.

Afterward, Castle says that there was something supernatural and says that someone wanted them to find the alcove and that Jackson’s ghost helped them out. Beckett says that she will agree to that if Castle agrees that there are no demons. However, when Castle goes to push the button to the elevator, it opens by itself. Castle gets home to find Alexis sitting in the living room. She tells that Ashley and her are having a hard time making their relationship work. However, Castle tries to give her advice and Alexis just wants to snuggle up. Castle says that anything is possible and they resume their movie that they were watching. The episode ends.
