Episode discussion for: 01x01 | Angel with a Broken Wing (Sep 22, 2011)

All psyched about the series, bunch of gal crime fighters, how could they go wrong. But ended up being severely disappointed.

All thru the ep I was filled with an overwelming feeling of "I just don't buy this". Shoulda made a list whilst watching but from memory:
- didn't buy their experteezeness
- the tightness of their bond
- their "I'm really... REALLY... upset about her being blown up" expressions of grief
- the disembodied Charlie - sounding like Stephen Hawkins v2
- young Bozley, in fact they all seemed just too darn young.

Remembering back to the 'recent' movie, how they were able to use a short short scene to show the audience how great they were at being crime fighters, made you think, yes, I can go with that. This pilot didn't do that for me and if you don't believe in the characters it's kinda hard to enjoy the rest of the product.

Glad I missed it but only because I simply forgot. Guess even the commercials didn't impress me.

Pam Am looks good but it's on Sunday .grrrrr. To many great shows on Sunday.

Yeah i thought it was a real let down too, to me the acting just seemed really bad and forced. The whole episode was just kinda mehhhh, dont think ill be bothering with anymore episodes of this one

"forced" - yup, THAT'S the word I should have used, would also apply to Whitney#1.

luckily the players in Nikita don't need to worry about that term being applied to them.

AS for PanAm - according to IMDB (the bastion of truthness), Ricci's character was going to be this super bi-tri-quazi(?)-linguale lass but when on set she had to speak some spanish she was unable to do so, thus the ptb instigated a rehash of her character making her (in Ricci's own words) unable to speak any languages - now whether this means she's now playing a mute, or she meant "any OTHER languages", I guess we'll just have to wait-n-c.

The thing that amazes me is that the pilot episode should be representative of the best they can do. They film it and show it to test audiences. Re-cast roles if necessary, rewrite and polish the script if necessary, repeat as needed before a major network finally accepts it and puts it on their primetime schedule.

And this is the crap they end up with? A couple of things that struck me.

- They need to infiltrate the bad guy's party at the last minute - No problem, just pose as caterers, nobody checks them out.
- Bosley needs to get close to the bad girl - He simply walks out on the balcony where she is alone, so much for her being so tightly guarded.
- They need to steal a Corvette - Just rub a couple of wires together. I bet all Corvette owners sleep well after seeing this.

And where are the bikinis?

Glad to see this show has been cancelled. I loved the originals but these were not even close to being good ....sorry. I am sure it is not the easiest job out there to write something good even if we are stealing the original ideas but I just couldn't watch anymore. The thought was good but not the rest. really sorry.

I liked this show actually but I admit it had its moments where I couldn't believe them. Minka Kelly is a great actress but she really sucked in Charlies Angels.

However I DID NOT want this show cancelled. It had potential to get better.
