The Comeback Kid - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The scene opens with Annie knocking on a crook’s door in nothing but a towel. She demands her clothing back and when he opens the door, he tells Annie that she has the incorrect room. Annie kicks open the door and starts to chase the crook. However, he is faster and jumps from one balcony to the next. When he makes the jump from a third story balcony, he is not that lucky and lands on the ground and crumbles. Annie is caught up in the moment and is about to make the same jump when Jimmy stops her. He yells at her for being careless and Annie doesn’t apologize. Later in an auto shop, a customer sees an older man kill two mechanics after him tells that he is not a lamb. Back at H.E.A.T., Annie asks about Natalie and the rough nights he has been having, but Jimmy is still upset with what she was trying to prove. Annie sees this as a time to swallow up all the pride and tells Jimmy that she is sorry and thanks him for taking care of her. Jimmy tries to lecture Annie of the importance of things and it distracts her even more instead of having her listen.

The team get a link on Frank McClusky, the old man from the auto shop, and they see right away that his bio is a little no-notable. They find out that he is from Louisiana and has a job. He lives with his girlfriend, Ellen, and has just had a birthday. They see that he has a vanity plate that reads “SLVR FOX”. Automatically, the team feels like it is going to be a sports car chase. Annie visits with Frank’s girlfriend, Ellen, and she tells that Frank is a Catholic who volunteers many places. Jimmy sees a picture of Frank and sees that he is a native of Louisiana. Annie shows a picture of the mechanics who were murdered and Ellen says that she recognizes them. She says that the two that were killed along with another mugged her and Frank after seeing a movie. Jimmy tells that he has to leave and searches for the third guy that is left. Annie tells Ellen to call her if Frank contacts her. Annie and Jimmy find Lindsey and interview her. She is the eyewitness of the shooting. She tells that Frank murdered the mechanics and hummed “Sweet Caroline”. Annie realizes that only Red Sox fans sing that song that the beginning of the 8th inning. They put two and two together and realize that Frank has a history with Boston.

Meanwhile in a hotel room, Frank is shocked to find that his picture is in the newspaper. He takes a picture out of his wallet and it is him as a younger man. He gives himself a makeover to try to disguise himself. Marco tells Annie that there is information from the Boston Task Force and that Frank is not his name. Jack Druggan is the real name and he is a fugitive wanted for a bank robbery 17 years ago and getting away with $1.5 Million. Jack loves the life of crime and Annie feels that the third mugger is going to be in big trouble. At the station, Jimmy talks to Annie and her lack of thinking and using common sense when she gets on a case. He mentions that she is not her father and Annie gets upset and tells that it is none of his business. Meanwhile at a food truck, Jack walks up to the third mugger and tells that he is the Lion and the mugger is the lamb. He shoots him and asks a truck driver for a little favor. Daisy alerts Annie that Jack killed the third mugger. She tells that he had a truck driver take his picture for the newspaper to get a more “flattering” shot. Their conversation ends when Ellen calls, but there is simply breathing on the other end. Annie chooses to track Ellen. Meanwhile, Jack turns off Ellen’s phone and he is not happy that she told on him. He tells Ellen to go with him and he gives her a diamond brooch as collateral. Ellen tells that she doesn’t want to and he leaves. The police arrive and Jack sets off a car bomb as a distraction.

Annie and Jimmy interview Ellen and she tells that Jack offered her money and the chance to have an adventure with him, but she couldn’t do it. Luke arrives and says that Jack always volunteered for a charity call Salvation Fun and Jack lost $200,000 in a bad deal with Sal. Meanwhile, Sal, a huge land investor, who started the charity, is there and Jack walks and tells that it is time to pay up. Sal tells that he doesn’t have any money, Jack pushes him down into a pool. Jack tells that for 17 years, he may have been a lamb, but no more. The team arrives at Sal’s place and finds his dead body in the pool. Luke is upset with himself that he couldn’t save him. Annie tells that Jack is only trying to get their attention so that he can relive the “Glory Days” when he worked with the Boston mafia. Marco comes up and gives a photo of Jack and Sal. The charity is halfway housing for ex-convicts. At the Salvation Fund, Jack walks up to two ex-cons and says that he will pay if they will help with a plan that he has. Annie and her team break in and two employees are gagged. They tell that Jack and two ex-cons left a moment ago.

Meanwhile, the two ex-cons try to trick Jack and he kills both of them for their lack of “Ambition” and leaves with machine guns. Annie goes to Tucker’s home. He is one of the ex-cons that is on Jack’s payroll. His wife Tamara opens the door and tells Annie to leave them alone. Annie tells that she knows what it is like to have a dad who is a criminal and it is no way to be raising a child. Tamara listens to Annie and tells that she is supposed to meet Tucker in three hours at the airport. Marco tells that Jack killed two more gang members and stole machine guns. Meanwhile in the bank parking lot, Jack gets an armored car. The team arrives at the bank and receives word that there were shots fired but when they pull up to the bank, there is no Jack. In a white van, Annie finds the body of an armored car guard and she knows exactly where Jack is going to rob. He is headed for the armored car depot.

An armored car driver gets to the depot and Jack and the two ex-cons are hiding in the back. Jimmy and the rest arrive and Jimmy tells everyone to be careful. Inside the van, Jack and Tucker hear the sirens and Tucker freaks out and Tucker runs to Annie and her team. He tells that Jack will shoot anyone. Jack drives the armored car out of the depot and fires the gun. One agent is shot, but Marco is there to save him. Jack gets out and a gun fight ensues. When he goes to reload, Annie sees this as her chance and tackles Jack. Jimmy assists her and they subdue him. Later that night, they all meet up for drinks. Daisy congratulates Marco for saving the agent’s life and he tells that it was nothing. The tension between Jimmy and Annie is heightened and He tells that he is angry that Annie went after Jack. He tells that her luck is going to run out. Jimmy tells that his did with Annie’s father. Jimmy can see that he's making Annie understand and he asks her if she ever thought about how her death would hurt the team and how it would affect him personally. Annie sits in silence but it is clear that the words hit her hard as she sits and contemplates.
