Paranoia - Recap

The scene opens in Conroe Texas where a man walks into the house. There is a woman there. She tells that she forgives his behavior and the man says that he meant every word. She kisses him and then shoots him. The woman tells her daughter that they need to leave. Meanwhile at H.E.A.T., there is tension between Jimmy and Annie and everyone there can see it. He is still mad from the gun incident from before and Jimmy and Annie can tell that they got all the attention. Annie asks Jimmy if he has told everyone about her father and how she doesn’t want anyone talking about that. However, her curiosity perks up and she asks Jimmy if he has heard of anything about her father. He tells that he has not. He adds that if he knew though where he was hiding out, he would arrest him. Annie tells the team that the woman from the beginning of the episode is Faith Maples who shot her boyfriend Jason Randolph. She tells that Faith has her daughter Dakota Marie with her. Annie tells them that the police are working on the paperwork and they found a picture of her. She passes it around. Annie tells Jimmy that it is best to investigate Jason’s home and get all the information on Dakota. Jimmy tells that it is his priority to make sure that Dakota is safe.

Annie and Daisy visit Dakota’s room and her closet is packed with designer clothing. It is clear that Faith is an active parent from the pictures of her in ballet, horseback riding, etc. However, Annie needs to find out where the money comes from. Annie gets a call and they tell that Jason’s car has been spotted. Faith is headed to her mother’s house or father’s. Luke makes conversation with Jimmy and gives him a hard time about the tension he has with Annie and Jimmy only glares at him. Annie and Daisy go to Faith’s mother, Penny, and Jimmy and Luke visit Faith’s father, Shep. Annie and Daisy arrive at Penny’s house and she tells that she hasn’t spoken to Faith for five years. She was supposed to show off her new fiancé, but canceled last minute. She tells that she only receives pictures of her granddaughter Dakota Marie. Meanwhile, Jimmy has Shep reveal that Faith killed her brother Ned and that he forgot to lock up the gun one day and she shot him. Faith told Shep that it was an accident and Shep decided to take his daughter out on the road with him. They find out that Shep wired $300 to her last night. Shep tells where they are after Jimmy tells that Dakota Marie is in terrible danger.

At the same moment, Faith is at the store picking up the money which Shep wired to her. Faith asks if Dakota Marie can use the bathroom and he tells that they are not for customers. A man tells that she can use the bathroom at his motel. Meanwhile back at H.E.A.T., Annie and the rest of the team are still in shock to find out that Faith killed her brother and most likely in cold blood too. Anny arrives at the convenience store and tells that there was a motel tenant that let Faith use the bathroom. They break in the motel room and find the man shot in the head. Dakota Marie and Faith are gone, but in the trash, Annie finds some coupons. On the road, Faith sees police cars and tells Dakota Marie to get down so the police won’t see her. She and Dakota Marie drive off, unrecognized because the police are there for an accident and nothing more. Back at the motel, Marco says that there is no birth certificate on Dakota Marie. Annie suggests that Faith is keeping her secret because Dakota Marie is not her real daughter. They start looking in the fact that maybe Dakota Marie is not her real name. Luke tells that the coupons that she found are for Big World, a costume store. Annie tells that they need to proceed and make sure that Dakota Marie is not hurt.

Meanwhile at Big World, Faith is considering costumes for Dakota Marie and an employee asks if she needs any help. Faith shows that she has a gun. Later, the team arrives at Big World and Luke grabs the wrong girl. Annie looks at the security footage and sees that Faith used a payphone before leaving. However, she is alone. There is no Dakota Marie. Annie tells Jimmy that she feels that Faith is mentally ill. They start to ask if Faith is killing people for the fact that they tell her that they don’t see Dakota and if there was even a real Dakota Marie. Marco tells that Faith called a man named George after she had bought a “World’s Best Dad” shirt. It is possible fiancé that Peggy said that Faith once had. Luke comes in and tells that George got into a car accident on Christmas Day five years ago. Annie tells that was the same day that Faith told Peggy that she was coming to visit. George was later sentenced to prison for involuntary manslaughter and at the time, Faith was eight months pregnant and lost the baby. Meanwhile, Faith arrives at George’s home and tells that Dakota Marie has a new princess costume and George is upset because he can see that she is crazy. He tells that he has felt guilty ever since the accident. However, Faith is confused and tells that she doesn’t remember the accident. George tells that Dakota Marie is dead and Faith loses it and kills him.

Faith walks inside and into Dakota Marie's room. She sees that it is empty and Faith finally comes to her senses. At the same moment, Annie and her team arrive and find George dead. Luke goes through Dakota Marie’s backpack that Faith left behind and finds out that Dakota Marie is really Bella Thomason, a student at an elementary school. Faith goes to Riverdale Elementary and Faith sees Bella at her school. Faith tells that her mom told her to pick her up and shows the dress that she bought for her. There is no trouble getting Bella to go with her. When Bella’s mother comes to the school, Annie calls her and asks if she knows a Faith Maples and Mrs. Thomason tells that she got into a car accident with her a few months ago. Mrs. Thomason gets out of her car and asks the teacher where Bella is and she is already gone. Annie and the team arrive and asks how Faith would know Bella and Mrs. Thomason tells that she let Faith watch Bella while she called the police. Annie feels that the car accident is what set Faith off. At dinner, Faith gives Bella peanut butter pancakes, but Bella tells that she is allergic to peanuts. Bella asks when she is going to see her mother and Faith gets upset and goes to the bathroom. Bella tells a truck driver that she has been kidnapped, but Faith kills the man when she sees him reporting it. Faith calls Bella by the name of Dakota Marie and leaves.

Annie and the team arrive and find the trucker’s body. Faith took a Semi-Truck and she is headed strait to her mother’s house. Annie says that Faith is going to try to prove to Penny that she didn’t kill Ned on purpose. Faith is going to show Bella to and tell that she's a good person. At Penny's home, Penny sees that Faith seems like a good mother for her child, but Faith goes right to the point and tells that she did not kill her brother. Penny tells Faith that she believes her. Suddenly a police helicopter arrives and Faith leaves with Bella. When Penny tries to stop her, Faith aims the gun on Penny, but doesn’t fire. They leave and drive off in the Semi-Truck. On the road, Faith breaks through police blockades and Anny decides that she is going to have to jump on the truck to stop her. She gets next to the door and tells Faith that she is going to kill Dakota Marie. This causes Faith to lose control of the semi-truck and it rams into the edge and causes the truck’s cab to dangle off the bridge. Annie gets a cable attached to her and takes Bella. The cab of the truck falls into the shallow river and Faith is killed. After the reunion at the station Annie takes out a picture of her and her dad and looks on the database for William Frost.
