Above the Law - Recap

The scene opens with Jimmy and Luke out hunting. Luke is not that good at firing his weapon and Jimmy took him out to see if he can’t help him. Meanwhile, the case against Adam Rothschild got better for the prosecution because of the fact that there is an audio recording of Adam gloating about how he took money from everyone’s pensions and everyone gets outraged. The judge calls for a recess. Adam smiles a confident smile until his lawyer tells that he can do serious time for it and that smile goes away. Adam goes to the bathroom and gets into a fight with one of the victims of the money scam, Brett Armstrong, and injures the guy very badly. Adam sees that he doesn’t have a chance and escapes out of the courtroom.

Later at H.E.A.T., the team all discusses Adam Rothschild. He is a fugitive that fled custody 15 minutes prior to his case going to jury. His crime was that he stole $200 Million from investors and was about to get away with it. That is until an audiotape found of Adam bragging about the whole thing. Before Adam disappeared, he was angry and took it out on Brett Armstrong. Brett is not in a coma because of it. The assets of Adam are all frozen, but they fear that he’ll use the pilot license that he has to use and with no money or passport, it is possible that he is with his wife Emma, who also disappeared during the trial. Marco comes in and tells that he looked through Adam’s account and fount that Adam was making payments to a property management company. It is for a nice apartment in Clifton rumored to be where the rich put their mistresses. They go off to check it out.

While at Clifton, Annie sees that Adam is one quirky guy. He likes the cologne strips from the magazines and listens to ZZ Top, but doesn’t have many toiletries to match his appearance. In the closet, Annie finds Emma hiding. She tells that she is Adam’s victim and not his “accomplice” as she is pegged to be. She tells that she was in Clifton to investigate Jessica, a woman who Adam texted. Emma tells that she is the victim here and not the criminal. She tells that her assets are frozen too and says that she is going to sell an etching that is valuable. Emma claims to know very little of Adam’s life. Meanwhile, Adam interrupts a photo shoot and takes his mistress Jessica and tells that he won his trial and now they have to go to the Caribbean now. Back with Annie and her team, they think on how the best way is to catch Adam. With no family or friends, they are able to find out that Adam went to Harvard. Meanwhile, Adam and Jessica withdrawal money from her account and close the account as well. One of the security guards recognizes Adam and Adam freaks out. He punches the cop and then shoots him. Jessica screams and then Adam runs out of the bank, leaving Jessica behind.

Back at headquarters, Annie and the rest learn that Adam left town without Jessica and took her cell phone. Jessica’s account was worth $286 Million and Adam now has all access to it. Rather then shutting down the account, they are going to monitor it. They see that Adam only withdrew $40,000 of it. Bounty Hunter Ben Crowley comes in and wants to interview Jessica. He wants Adam and wants to trade information. Jimmy watches closely and Annie tells Ben to get out of there. Daisy comes by and tells that they tracked Jessica’s cell phone. They know where Adam is. However, when they get to the location, they only find her car. The cell phone is loaded with videos. Marco tells that Adam is possibly with Harvard grad Bo Cottrell because he lives close. Meanwhile at Bo’s house, Adam is there and he tells that he is going to take him out if he doesn’t help him. He tells that it is time for Bo to return the favor of him helping him out. Bo resists him and Adam shoots him. Nina, Bo’s wife, sees Adam shoot her husband and calls the police. They reroute the call to Annie and she tells her to jump out of the window. She escapes. Annie and her team arrive, but they are too late because Adam has taken off in Bo’s motorcycle just moments before them arriving.

Back at headquarters, they play the videos that Adam has saved. It is Adam and he is drunk. He is talking in country slang and Annie tells that Adam probably grew up poor. Luke comes in and tells that Adam has a motive to kill Bo. The reason is that Bo’s company owns a Gulfstream V, a fast private jet. Annie tells Luke to get a hold of the tower and inform them not to let the jet leave. Meanwhile at the airport, Ben pretends to be Adam’s pilot. Adam sees that there is a problem and rushes off in a fancy car. When Annie and her team arrive there, Adam is long gone and Annie blames that it was Ben’s fault. She handcuffs him to a toilet and tells him to stay out of her way in the capture of Adam. Annie sees that $6 Million was transferred into Emma Rothschild’s account. Annie tells Marco to get Annie and tells that she is under arrest. At an upscale store, they find her in the dressing room. They tell that they are going to arrest her and she tells that one time at a baseball game, Adam was called “Adam Smurl”. Adam had pretended not to know the guy who said it, but Emma never forgot. Meanwhile at a Laundromat, Adam changes out of his fancy clothing and gets into jeans and a t-shirt.

Annie finds the car that Adam stole. It is in a rough part of Texas near Adam’s hometown. Marco tells that Adam is possibly going to his grandmother’s home. Meanwhile, Adam arrives at his grandmother’s home and the new owner tells that she died and that they live there now. Missy, Adam’s grandmother’s caretaker, comes up and tells that she was with his grandmother until the end and Adam cries. Missy offers to give Adam something to eat. Annie arrives with her team and finds out that he is hiding out at Missy’s. They go to the farm and meanwhile, she is cooking. They connect and Adam tells that he likes the quiet country life. However, Annie and her team are there. Adam runs out the back and Missy gives him the keys to the crop dusting plane. Annie sees the crop duster and she runs for it. She jumps on the wind and shoots the propeller. The plane goes down and Adam can’t escape. Later at H.E.A.T., Jimmy serves chili for everyone and they all cheer at Annie’s capture. Ben calls up Annie to set up a date to take her out. She rejects him, but she is smiling.
