The scene opens in 1989 in Odessa, Texas where a teenage Annie is looking at a car. William talks to the man selling it and shows him a ring that he paid $5,000 for. The man says that it is a deal despite what Annie says. However, when they are on the road, he shows that he swindled the man. Back to the present day and Annie is looking at the same ring. She says that her father never parted with it. Meanwhile in Auburn, Kansas, a man is putting up barbed wire and setting up cameras around his property. He goes back inside and finds the man he has been guarding against inside as well. The man shoots him with a nail gun. The man says that he doesn’t know anything, but the man shoots him anyways. Later on the plane, Annie briefs the team on the victim. He is Clark Perry and the murderer is Alvin Hawkins. Perry has been in the dark for a while...
