After Cat breaks up with her boyfriend, her roommate Lola breaks up with her boyfriend by telling him a lie. Briggs tries to talk Owen into returning to his former job with the police.

Chief tells the staff about Lola's brain tumor during the staff meeting and they refuse to believe she lied about it. Glenn is in trouble with Briggs about some of his questionable medical decisions. Blake tries to cure sickness with humor and Cat gets assigned to a boy with advanced aging disease.

Blake has flashbacks about his formative childhood years that led him to be a doctor that heals with the power of laughter, just as a visiting doctor who is really funny arrives. A Puerto Rican doctor visits to capture the staff's expertise.

Glenn is puzzled and frustrated by Cat's new boyfriend Nicky, the six year old with advanced aging disease. Dr. Von Sydow claims he can cure Chief. Blake gets fed up and challenges the new funny doctor to a healing-power-of-laughter-off.

Blake decides to take advantage of Lola's fake brain tumor and "heal" it with comedy. Glenn gives Cat's 6 year old boyfriend a vasectomy out of spite. Dr. Van Sydow operates on Chief and she comes out looking like a Hollywood actress.
