Chuck Versus the Cubic Z - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
A prisoner transfer gets derailed when the vehicle breaks down.

Buy More is having a countdown for the biggest game release of the year, Spy Attack. Morgan is stressing. Chuck asks him if he wasn't camped out just like this crew, last year. He says yes. The new Greta arrives, and she has legs up to there. She tells Morgan everything is ready and asks him if he has anything further for her. Check motions in front of Morgan's face, murmuring "filter. filter.", and Morgan says nope. Chuck says he'd like to stick around and see how this all plays out, but he has to take a private jet to Monaco.

Morgan asks why Chuck isn't his usual neurotic-relationship self, and he says he thinks it's because Sarah is finally starting to settle down with him.

Sarah is kicking the daylights out of John Casey as they spar. She's feeling trapped because Chuck told her he's thinking maybe they are ready to start a family. They are interrupted by their commander, who tells Sarah the trip to Monaco has been canceled due to the prisoner transfer breakdown. Chuck is disappointed that they are not going to Monaco, but he becomes apprehensive about what kind of a chat it is, exactly, that Sarah wants to have. He agrees that it will be nice to have a lovely, quiet evening with Sarah.

The prisoners arrive. The first to have his hood removed is Hugo Panzer, Chuck's old nemesis. The second is Sarah's high school bully, Heather Chandler. This night isn't shaping up to be so fun after all.

Morgan's employees inform him that Big Mike is in the building. AKA "the man whose job you stole."

Chuck and Sarah welcome Hugo and Heather to their new accommodations. Big Mike tells Morgan he's seeing his mother, and he wants to propose to her. Mike asks if he can work at Buy More during the game launch, and Morgan says yes. He gets a call telling him he's only getting six copies of Spy Attack, despite the fact that he has 300 customers waiting for midnight.

Chuck asks Sarah if they can talk now. She says sure, and tells him she loves him, and loves being with him. He blocks out when he flashes on Heather. He says she was in the Intersect 2-0, and connected to Frost. He thinks she knows Chuck's mom. He has to talk to her now because the transport will be arriving shortly. Sarah says they have to have an actual interrogation, not just flinging questions all about. She suggests they do Tough Cop, Silent Cop. Chuck suggests they use 'time machine' for code to back off and regroup.

Heather commences mouthing off at Sarah the minute she walks in the door. Heather is only willing to talk for witness protection. She tells Chuck he is Sarah's partner, not boyfriend. When she sees the looks they exchange, she realizes that they are an item. Sarah tells Chuck "Time machine" and they leave the room. He sort of thought she'd use it in a sentence. She tells Chuck not to let Heather get under his skin, but it's obvious Heather got under her skin. They re-enter the holding cell.

When the guard brings Panzer food, he is attacked. Heather continues to rib Sarah until she is steaming. Chuck grabs her hand, holds up his wrist and says "hey! Look at my time machine!" while hauling her out of the holding cell. Sarah, over Chuck's shoulder, sees the guard being dragged out of sight. She tells Chuck they have a serious problem. As Panzer is grabbing a semi-automatic weapon and aiming it at them, they run back into the holding cell with Heather. Panzer shoots into the bulletproof glass, and says that Volkoff just wants Heather. If they send her out, nobody will die. Heather tells Sarah and Chuck that Volkoff engineered her transfer because she blew a half-billion dollar deal; she guesses he is going to be petty about it.

John Casey and Greta are on the phone. He tells her to get to the cell block. Panzer steps in, and she slugs him. He returns the favor and knocks her to the ground. Panzer picks up the cell phone and tells John that Greta is indisposed. Panzer hacks the Buy More system and puts the entire site in complete lock-down. He then commences opening all the cell doors. John wants to override what Panzer is doing, but the computer can't understand what he's saying. He threatens the computer, and it finally understands what he's saying. They escape the cell just as Panzer enters.

Sarah, Heather and Chuck are crawling through the air ducts. Heather keeps the insults rolling. Panzer follows them into the duct system. John is armed and looking for them. He contacts Walker and tells her how and where to get out of the duct system.

Game launch time arrives and they still have no games.

While Sarah is trying to get through an air-locked door, Heather fills Chuck in on Sarah. She's a spy, she'll always be a spy, she'll never settle for the white wedding and picket fence. Panzer comes through the door, and is flung across the room and into an elevator shaft. Chuck is the only thing stopping him from going down the shaft. Heather tries to take advantage of this opportunity to escape, and winds up in hand-to-hand combat with Sarah. All four are physically attacking each other; Panzer on Chuck, Heather on Sarah. Panzer loses the grasp, and goes down the shaft. Sarah pulls Chuck back up. Heather is on the ground, and Sarah says that felt good.

Lester and Jeff try to hold off the angry gamers with a poetry slam, and a demonstration of the martial arts techniques used in the game. The gamers respond with anger.

Panzer is in the duct, following Chuck and Sarah's voices. He is intercepted by John Casey, who says transport will be on the roof in two minutes. Heather still refuses to discuss Frost. Panzer is too happy. Casey finally gets that it's not CIA arriving to pick up Panzer and Heather. These are Volkoff's men. He must have intercepted their transport. Casey sends Chuck after Panzer. Casey gets hit. The bad guys announce that if they send Chandler over, they'll both live. Heather says she'll go. Sarah tells her she has no idea who she is, or how she feels. She gives Heather a weapon and they take out the bad guys.

The gamers start chanting "We want the game". Jeff tells them the game didn't show.

Chuck tells Panzer that the air ducts weren't meant to hold 400 pounds, and since most of that is him, he needs to back up. The air duct falls and they wind up in a steel cage in storage. When Morgan gets knocked down, the ring falls out of the jewelry box and is kicked away by the gamers.

Panzer and Chuck continue fighting while the gamers riot. all hell is breaking loose, both in the store, and in the cage. Big Mike slaps Morgan and snaps him out of his hysteria. He tells Big Mike he needs help. Big Mike takes the stage and talks down the gamers. Panzer is coming through, and takes Morgan hostage. Big Mike uses the disco stick on Panzer and knocks him down.

Casey is going to need some vacation time to heal from his wounds. Sarah suggests he take some time with Alex, find out what his role is in her life. Casey says she should do the same with Bartowski, and get things back to normal. Heather tells Sarah "Operation Beacon"; that's where she met Frost. Frost was always hanging around Volkoff. She couldn't get the full gist of their relationship. Sarah thanks Heather for her honesty. Heather says Chuck is a really nice guy, and he's really in love. She asks Sarah if she is, too. Sarah says good-bye.

Morgan offers Big Mike the assistant manager position. He's really sorry about the ring. Mike isn't mad about the ring, and he agrees to accept the position. Morgan gives him permission to marry his mom.

Chuck and Sarah finally have their chat. She says she used to be like Heather, but she's not anymore, and she doesn't want to be. They agree neither of them is ready for anything serious, and they're going to move super slow. As they kiss, Big Mike's ring falls down the air ducts and lands in Chuck's sight. He picks it up and they both have a very "Whoa, hey now!" reaction.
