Chuck Versus the Couch Lock - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
John Casey is on a mission, back in the Clinton era. He and his team find enough gold to retire five times over, but that's not the mission. Casey places an explosive so that whoever tries to get to the gold will die. His teammates turn their guns on him; they want the gold. He turns the tables, wounds them all and takes them into custody to do hard time in Leavenworth.

And now, he's marking stock at Buy More. His daughter Alex tries to get friendly with her new boyfriend Morgan, but he's all frozen up (what with her hyper-vigilant father being only ten feet away). Alex reminds Morgan he should have had this talk with her dad already, and he promises he will.

Chuck and Sarah are discussing Volkoff's connection to his mom, and how they can find her. The three guys who would know are the ones that Casey took in so many years ago. Chuck flashes on this and they talk to Casey. Casey tells them that after he brought them in, they escaped and have been off the grid ever since. He says the only way they'd wind up in his airspace is if it was at his funeral. Chuck thinks this is a brilliant idea, and they bring it to the General. She agrees, and they set their plan in motion.

Casey is in full dress blues and ready to star in his own funeral. He'll be fully aware of his surroundings, but completely paralyzed. Chuck asks Morgan to deliver the eulogy, and he can use this to his advantage to win over Casey. While they are chatting, Ellie and Devon show up to announce it's a girl. Ellie takes Chuck aside and tells him she changed her mind about finding their mom.

At the funeral, Chuck finds it sad that the only people who showed up for Casey's funeral are the agents that they planted there. The first of Casey's enemies, Mackintosh, shows up and sticks a pin in his hand to see if there's any response. The second, T.I., puts out a cigar on his wrist, and the third, Packard, does nothing to John, but calls out Chuck and Sarah. His cohorts stand in front of the coffin with him, guns drawn. Chuck tells them the exits are covered, but the church is wired and when he pushes a button, new exits have been created. The three men are gone, and Casey's coffin is empty. Casey's tracker works, but the men put it on a cat. They're going to remove Casey's hand so they can use it to open the vault and recover the gold he made them leave behind.

Casey works on regaining the use of his body while the men go to get a saw. When they come back, he returns to feigning death. They stop to accept a pizza delivery, and when they get back, he's gone. He fights all three of them to the ground, and leaps out a window. He's still not doing so hot, since one of them hit him with the spare syringe. He calls the red phone, and Jeff answers. Casey doesn't realize until it's too late that he's not talking to Chuck.

Chuck and Sarah track Casey's cell to the alley he landed in. He's not there, but they see an open window. Sarah wants to call tactical, but Chuck insists that they are there and they should go in now.

Casey is in the back of Jeff and Lester's vehicle, wearing sunglasses. Morgan calls to ask where they went, as his customers are leaving because nobody is helping them. When he finds out they have Casey, Morgan tells them to take him to Morgan's apartment in Echo Park. The key is under the mat. Lester says they have a key.

Sarah and Chuck enter the building. Morgan calls Chuck and gives him the news. Chuck encounters infra-green rays that prevent him from moving. Sarah crawls under them and goes to the circuit board. Chuck is beating himself up, and Sarah tells him it's ridiculous. She and Casey knew the risks when they went in.

Morgan and Casey are at his apartment when there's a knock at the door. Morgan doesn't know who it is, so he puts a Star Wars Empire soldier head on Casey before answering. It's Alex. He steps outside to talk to her.

Sarah tries to disarm the board, but Packard beats her to it. They set the trap for Casey, but catching Sarah and Chuck in it works almost as well. Packard and Mackintosh have Chuck and Sarah in irons, and T.I. arrives while Alex is with Morgan, looking for Casey. Morgan is trying to stall Alex and she refuses to be stalled. Morgan is torn between being honest with her and knowing there's a cold-blooded killer headed their way. He tells Alex to leave, and he's adamant. She thinks he's breaking up with her, so she goes.

T.I. confronts Morgan and bounces him around a bit. He gives Morgan a message that Casey actually overhears. They have his friends, and they're going on a gold-digging expedition. He's got 24 hours to join them or he'll have two more funerals to go to.

Morgan calls Devon to find out how to help Casey get over his "couch-lock". He tells Morgan to do anything he can to get his heart rate up, and if that doesn't work, he should call Devon back. Morgan thanks Devon, and tells Casey he's dating his daughter. And although he's been a perfect gentleman, it did look like pretty soon, she'd be spending the night. Casey picks up Morgan by the throat and tells him he will kill him.

Casey and Morgan are getting ready for the mission, and Casey tells him that not only is Morgan not dating his daughter, but he and Morgan are not friends. Morgan says that makes sense, since at the funeral he noticed that the only people who showed up, wanted to see him dead.

Chuck and Sarah discover that they are going to die regardless of what happens with Casey. Knowing that, Chuck asks about Volkoff's prisoner, Frost. Mackintosh tells him that Frost is their boss.

Casey and Morgan are watching Chuck and Sarah on closed-circuit camera. Mackintosh is telling Chuck that Frost is Volkoff's right hand.

Casey tells Morgan that when he hears the word 'security', he's supposed to hit a switch that will kill the lights. Casey goes in. Three guns are aimed at him when he gets to the bottom of the stairs. They order him to drop all his weapons, and he does. Casey gives the signal, but the lights don't go off, despite Morgan's repeated efforts. They use John's hand print to open the vault, and place him in irons as well. Casey tells them they're surrounded by Special Forces. On the off-chance he's telling the truth, Mackintosh fires blind up the stairs, hitting Morgan's arm.

They tell Morgan that they'll kill the three they have unless he surrenders, so he does. He also tells them he's alone. He whispers 'couch-lock' to Casey, and gestures at the cable. Casey tells Chuck and Sarah to lift their feet out of the standing water. When they do, Morgan grabs the cable and jumps into the water, thereby electrocuting the bad guys.

Sarah tries waking Morgan by calling his name. Casey says "Wake up, Moron" and throws a pail of water in his face. Morgan sits up and asks what happened. Sarah tells him he took 10,000 volts and went into cardiac arrest; they actually lost him for awhile. Chuck tells him that was the single bravest thing he's ever seen anyone do.

Morgan asks Casey if they're okay, and he says yes. Morgan tells him he doesn't have to worry about him and Alex, since they're over. He gives Casey an invite to a get-together so when his next funeral rolls around, he'll have friends. Casey shows up, followed shortly by his daughter. She tells Morgan that her dad told her the truth. That he made him dump her, but he stood up to Casey and made him change his mind. When she excuses herself, Morgan thanks Casey. Casey pats him on the shoulder and tells him "You break her heart, I break your everything."

Sarah and Chuck talk about Frost. He thought she was a prisoner, but she's one of the bad guys. It bothers him that in order to find the one person who left him, he endangered the lives of everyone who never would. They exchange I love you's, and Sarah goes inside. Chuck's phone rings, and it's his mother. Frost.
