Stylish and excitingRating: 1 likes, 1 dislikes Set in 1860s New York, Copper marks the first big-budget in-house production of BBC America, who previously focused on bringing U.K. programming to the States. During the Civil War, the U.S. are in a state of uncertainty, if not close to falling apart. The gloom and fear of a time of war reaches deep into the bustling streets of New York City. As a viewer, you follow Detective Kevin Corcoran, a hard-boiled Irish immigrant cop, stationed in disreputable Five Points, a neighbourhood of beggars, prostitutes, thieves and murderers. Through his military service, he has made friends from all walks of life, from high-society politicians to blue-collar workers. The show puts these friendships to good use by exploring this turbulent time of American and New York history from many different viewpoints. High production value...Rating: 1 likes, 3 dislikes ....gone to waste. It's clear that a lot of resources have gone into making this show. It's tragic that none of those resources seem to have been spent on good writers. Human beings do not behave the way this show would have me believe they do. 1x10: A Vast and Fiendish Plot recap: The scene opens with Robert telling Corcoran that he is going to meet Kennedy. Corcoran tells Robert that he has to take care of Ellen. Corcoran goes up to Eva and asks Eva a favor. He asks her to watch over Ellen and she agrees reluctantly again. The next day, Robert goes up to the men with the Greek Fire. Kennedy isn’t there. The police show up to the meeting place and Byrnes hits one of the men with his gun. Corcoran asks why Kennedy didn’t show up. Meanwhile, Kennedy and Norbert are in a basement somewhere and a chemist has made the Greek Fire for them. He tells him that they can make it right in New York. Kennedy is pleased and says that they are going to be able to kill around 10,000 people... read more.

1x9: A Day to Give Thanks recap: The scene opens with a man singing in the streets. Corcoran watches as Matthew tends to Ellen. It has been two weeks and Matthew says that it was a tough drug that the Earle house had her on. Annie comes downstairs and asks Corcoran how things are. Corcoran gets to the station and O’Brien is not too happy to go hunt down Maguire. He says that he doesn’t want to be there when Corcoran finds him. At a church, the priest finds the badge of Maguire. Corcoran goes to Eva’s and asks about Maguire. She tells him that he is not there. She asks about Ellen and he says that she will come back to her senses. Eva starts to undo Corcoran’s pants and he tells her that he has to go. O’Brien takes Byrnes out to a field and tells him to chase a sheep. He trips over a mound of dirt. However it is something else. He calls in Ethel and she sees that he has been dipping into the Ether again. She asks him which tooth to pull and she does so. However, it is the wrong tooth. Devry smacks Ethel. At Eva’s Corcoran wakes up and meets with Maguire. He asks him about Mary and he says that they are good. Maguire tells Corcoran that they have a dead dentist. It turns out to be Devry. The Sergeant is there on scene first and robs the dead Devry. A woman found the body and tells the Sergeant that she was there for a filling.
