Good Advices - Recap

The scene opens with Annie coming into work with coffee and asks Jai where everyone is. He says that the meeting was moved up to an earlier time. She runs into the meeting, but it is really a surprise birthday party for Annie. She says that it is bad luck to blow out candles when it is not her birthday and says that it is in six days. She wonders if Auggie knew that she wasn’t going to be there on her birthday and Auggie smiles. Joan comes in and tells Annie that she wants to talk to her. She says that she is sending Annie to Paris to talk to a CIA asset by the name of Salma Devrient. Joan says that she has to try to get into the Syrian Embassy so that they could have someone on the inside in Paris. Annie tells that she is focused for the job and Joan tells her to bring back receipts.

Annie arrives in Paris and starts to scope out Salma and take pictures. She tells Auggie that she is doing some recon and Auggie tells that she has her opening. She goes into a museum with Salma. Meanwhile, Joan tells Auggie that he is going to be fine while she is away on Jury duty. She says that she will be in and out. Joan tells Auggie to tell Annie about the chatter that they have been hearing. Back in Paris, Annie goes into a store that Salma goes into and overhears that her card is declined. She switches bags with her. Annie calls Auggie and Jai realizes that she staged the “dummy” bag and she says that she did and will wait for her to call her back. Auggie asks how much the bag cost and Annie says that it was 6,000 Euros. Auggie tells that is a little excessive and Annie says that Joan would understand. Joan comes in and tells her that she would not understand and says that she is there on a mission, not to shop. She tells Auggie to tell her about the chatter from a terrorist, Makmood. They tell that he is a ghost. Annie gets a call on her other line and says that she has to go. Joan tells Auggie that he can tell that he is in charge while she is away.

Later, Annie meets with Salma and they give back bags that they took by accident. She says that she didn’t touch anything and Annie tells that she ordered a whole bottle of wine. They talk and Salma opens up to Annie. She says that she has to go because the Embassy wants her to report the bag stolen and Annie tells her to come to a Black Tie event and she says that she met a guy named George. Annie and Salma arrive at the party and she tells that she needs to use the restroom. Annie goes to the bar and is met by Levin, the Musad Agent from prior missions. He says that he is there on business and says that he liked how she switched bags at the shop. Annie realizes that Levin has been following her. Salma comes up and recognizes the agent as George the man she is seeing. Annie is not surprised and they pretend not to know each other. She calls Auggie and tells him that they have a problem. Meanwhile, Joan is in court when she gets a call from Auggie. She hides as she talks to him and she asks if they are hearing any chatter. Auggie says that he is set up unless Annie has to go on a bidding war. Joan is interrupted by the judge and she tells that she has to go.

Back in Paris, Annie manages to get Levin away from Salma and asks what he is doing seducing secretaries. Salma comes up and says that she has a weird thing happen to her. She says that her boss came up to her and asked what she was doing there at the event. They asks what she told him and Salma says that she lied and said that they were friends from University and they were hanging out. They get into the car and Annie suggests that hey go home, but “George” says that he wants to go out more. Salma tells them both that she knows about them and in order to get into the Embassy, she will sell the access to the highest bidder. She gets out and Levin and Annie are shocked. Levin blames Annie for ruining their chances. Later, Annie calls Auggie and tells him that they have a deal at 50,000 Euros. Jai tells that Joan would not go for 50,000 Euros, but she texts back that they have a deal. Auggie tells Annie the news. The next day, Annie goes to meet Salma, but she is stood up. She starts to go up to the hotel room when Levin meets her. He says that he had a meeting with Salma too. They find her in her motel dead. Suddenly a man pushes past them and Levin chases after him. Annie goes around the front while Levin chases the man on the rooftops. The man kills himself when Levin questions him.

Levin and Annie say their goodbyes but Annie follows him and asks about Makmood. He says that it is nothing to do with Salma’s death. However, Levin says that he works alone. Annie gets a video message from Danielle and her kids wishing her a happy birthday. Later in the courtroom, the lawyers are trying to talk to Joan about her experience at the bank, but she is texting. She asks if she can have a recess. The judge has the Marshall to confiscate the phone. At Langley, Auggie is nervous because Annie told him that she thinks that Makmood will be arriving in Paris and he is having an issue making a decision. He says that Annie will get an hour. Meanwhile, Annie sees the man from Salma’s work escorting a man. Levin walks up to Makmood and forces him to turn around and Annie takes his picture. Later at the bar, Levin says that he likes her style and they get into the conversation about family and Levin tells that he had a family that left him because of his job. He says that Masad allows them to tell the family about what they do. She says that she has to go and asks how he knew about her switching bags and he tells her that she has a little something on her collar. She leaves and then immediately realizes something is up. She looks at her camera, her SD card is gone. She goes back to the bar and he is gone too. She looks outside and Levin is being put into a van. She gets into a taxi and chases after the van.

When the taxi arrives at a compound, Annie calls over to Auggie and he asks what is around her. Annie manages to start a fire and cause the van to catch on fire. The men run out and Annie runs inside. She sees Levin and rescues him. They run out together and are about to drive off, but there are not keys. Annie runs off and is met by two of Makmood’s men. Levin shoots one of the men and breaks the other’s neck. Later at the airport, Annie meets Levin and asks about the SD card and he tells that he ate it. She tells that she forgot about a receipt from the taxi. He writes down something for her to give to Langley. She reads it and is shocked. The note says Happy Birthday. She turns around, but he is gone. In the Courtroom, Joan says that she cannot sit on a 3 week trial. However, the judge tells her to sit down. Joan pays $20 to borrow another juror’s cell phone. She texts someone and suddenly a bailiff comes in and gives the judge a note. The judge excuses Joan. Later that night, Joan goes up to Auggie and tells that making decisions like he did doesn’t get any easier. At Danielle’s house, Annie tells her that she went to Paris instead of Topeka like she told her before. She blows out the candle on a cupcake that Danielle made for her. She blows out the candle and the episode ends.
